FEE WAYBILL
- Fined £50 at Marlborough magistrates court London for "obstructing a police officer in the execution of his duty". P.C. Pearce stated in evidence that "Waybill was standing on the lorry and when asked
if he was in charge replied: "Oh, there is a funny little man who wishes to speak to us."
When asked to turn the music down he apparently replied: "No, not until we have finished." He was then arrested as he stepped off the lorry. Fee's defence
counsel admitted that his client had behaved in "a somewhat flippant manner" but added that he did not appreciate the "gravity
of the situation." The magistrate called John Waldo Waybill an "arrogant nuisance"
before fining him. Afterwards Fee described the fine as a "little over the top
I think, but it won't break the band."

The previous night, Atlanta Rhythm Section lighting director
Paul Crockett, died after a ground supported lighting truss collapsed to the stage. The 33 year old R.A. Roth Lighting employee
was standing on the truss during focussing, when the centre span snapped and fell 30 feet, crushing him on impact. This would have been only the second concert at the venue, which had recently re-opened on October 14th
after being closed more than three years.
