To download a Microsoft Word 98 (or later) document containg what I have chosen to call "BATF Blather" click on the appropriate choice:

The document contains text taken directly from the BATF website. All I have done is reformat it to make it more suitable for printing, add two comprehensive tables of content, generate a somewhat less comprehensive index, correct such misspellings as I saw &emdash; adding hyphens to the words that needed them (several hundred; hyphenated words are apparently not recognized by the government) &emdash; and delete most of the end-of-section, cryptic legal cross-references and bureaucratic approval trails. The words are all from the website. I disavow any responsibility for the absurd organization. Apparently logical section numbering is also not recognized by the government. It remains a mystery to me why they even pay Congressional staffers a salary. See the T-O-C's for content. If you're going to view the file rather than print it, I recommend setting your View to 130% of actual size or larger. When used this way, you can also search using the Edit commands in Microsnot Word. If you'd like a text-only version, simply save the file as such from MS word or go to http://www.atf.treas.gov/pub/fire-explo_pub/complete.htm NOTE: Try to ignore the stuff like: "When used in this part and in forms prescribed under this part, where not otherwise distinctly expressed or manifestly incompatible with the intent thereof, terms shall have the meanings ascribed in this section. Words in the plural form shall include the singular, and vice versa, and words importing the masculine gender shall include the feminine. The terms "includes" and "including" do not exclude other things not enumerated which are in the same general class or are otherwise within the scope thereof. ..." wgc |
