Who is the Silver State Division?
The Silver State Division was founded in 1984 by individuals who were looking to establish a TTOS Division in Southern Nevada. The Silver State Division is a dynamic and active voice for the hobby of operating and collecting toy trains.
Where Is The Hobby Going?
Toy trains have experienced an explosion in popularity the past ten years. Much of this popularity was brought on by new, as well as long established toy train manufacturers that introduced computerize technology and all that it offers the hobby. Did you know that Lionel just celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2000? The hobby of toy trains is the oldest continuous interactive hobby in the U.S. While the Silver State Division embraces the future of the hobby it also honors the past. The Silver State Division of TTOS has active members that both operate and collect toy trains. These collections consist of new trains and accessories along with the collections of antique and vintage trains, some being one hundred twenty years old. Several members have permanent layouts in their homes that are shared with friends, school children, various organizations and other hobby enthusiasts. Many of our members run their trains on layouts at train shows and other places of interest.
