Basics to TroubleShooting your High Speed Connection

I have had a few calls about losing internet connection with high speed internet. Let's go over a couple of troubleshooting techniques.

First look next to your task bar at the bottom of the screen next to the clock.

If you are not connected you will have this.

If you are connected this.

If there is no little TV looking thing go to Control Panel by clicking Start then control panel on the left if it isn't already set to classic view then click classic view. Now double click the network connections icon. On the LAN or High Speed Internet right click and click properties put a check in Show Icon in Notification area when connected click OK and exit out of control panel.

If it shows not connected unplug your power adaptor from the back of the modem for about 30 seconds then plug it back in. Wait till all the lights come on then double click your Internet Explorer or FireFox Browser to see if you get online. If you do your done if not right click the little TV on the taskbar next to the clock and click repair when done click OK try again. If that works your done if not try rebooting the computer by going to Start - Turn Off Computer and click Restart. If that works your done if not go here download this application and run it.

For Vista

To repair and reset the Windows Vista

1. Click on Start button.
2. Type Cmd in the Start Search text box.
3. Press Ctrl-Shift-Enter keyboard shortcut to run Command Prompt as Administrator. Allow elevation request.
4. Type netsh winsock reset in the Command Prompt shell, and then press the Enter key.
5. Restart the computer.

If none of that does it then there is more than likely a problem with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
