In case anybody cares...

My name is Tom, and I am 54 years old. I live in Greenville, Kentucky,  a small town in the western part of the Bluegrass State.

I work at a paper mill, where I have been employed for nearly 30 years. We make the paper that is used as filtration media in oil, air, hydraulic, and fuel filters for automotive applications. You are VERY likely to have some of our paper in a filter somewhere on your car or truck.

I am married and have two grown children, Dawn, who is 26 , and Wesley, who is 24.

My passion is off roading with my Jeep. I only got into this wonderful "Jeep Thing" about three years ago, when I picked up my Thelma Jane, an 01 Wrangler Sport. I ordered her from the factory on November 16, 2000, and she arrived at the dealer on December 8, 2000. Naturally, I rushed right over as soon as I got the call and picked her up! Thelma Jane is my first ever short wheel base Jeep,  although I did  own a 99 Grand Cherokee previously.

For the first 14 months that I owned my Jeep, I treated her just like I had treated all of my previous vehicles: I was meticulous about her appearance. I was actually a NUT about keeping a vehicle spotless inside and out. I was having a great time with the Jeep just keeping her on the pavement and keeping her spotless. She was the most fun vehicle that I had ever owned. So, even without having taken her off road, I was having an absolute blast with her.

Then, on February 15, 2002, I finally took her off road for the first time. I had been reading posts on Jeep sites where people were talking about how much fun " wheelin' " was. So, finally, I had to try it.

One time is all it took! I was hooked for life! As much fun as I had been having those first 14 months, that first time wheelin' blew my mind. I simply could not believe what a stock jeep could do! I had hooked up over the Internet with a guy who agreed to lead me around and help me get started wheelin'. I would have never believed I could go through some of the places he led me.

I have tried to go wheelin' every weekend since I got hooked back in Feb. 02. I haven't missed too many weekends, either!

That's probably more than you cared to know about me, so I guess that's all about me for now. Well, OK... just one more thing... hope you will indulge a brand new grandpa and forgive me for including a pic of my new granddaughter, Payton Nicole. She is my first grandchild (human, that is... sorry, Ross Allen), and she was born 6/24/03 to my daughter, Dawn, and son in law, Jayme. Now what kind of grandpa would I be, if I didn't include a pic of her????

I will definitely be making a "Jeep Chick" out of her! Can't wait 'til she's big enough to go Jeepin' with me.

Ok, it's 9/3/04, and I have deleted the old pic of my granddaughter and replaced it with this one, which is much more recent.

I hope to add more pictures about Turkey Bay, but the one below is one of my favorites.

This pic was taken while Thelma Jane was in Buttpucker Gulch. I didn't get too much farther than where this pic was taken and had to back out. I have tried Buttpucker Gulch twice now without being able to go all the way through.  The first time, I winched on through, and this time, I backed out.

One of these days, though...

NEWS FLASH!

I have now made it through Buttpucker Gulch four times. I am way behind in updating this site. I actually conquered BP Gulch for the first time on 3/27/04. Most of the credit goes to my spotters, of course.

The picture below is of yours truly, my Granddog, Ross Allen, who loves to go wheelin' with "Grandpa" and is my best Bud in the whole world, and Thelma Jane
