The God of Relationship not Religion
If God were only interested in rules and regulations,
rites and observances then the incarnation of His son would be unnecessary. The
Old Testament Laws had been given but were never intended to be the blueprint for attaining salvation. Since they are impossible for humanity to keep they were purposed to show that to know and have a relationship
with God requires more than a human effort.
In fact, only a supernatural effort would
satisfy the Holy nature of God because only perfection will do. Since humans
are imperfect they need a way to bridge the gap of their fallen nature to come into relationship with a pure and perfect God. Jesus is that way.
In Gods word Jesus tells us "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6).
It couldn’t be more clear.
Don’t be deceived, Jesus is the only way to
the Father of all creation. This isn’t narrow or prejudicial as the gift
of salvation is offered to all. How does one receive the gift? God’s word
provides all the answers to our questions.
Ephesians 4:8-10 tells us “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this
not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created
in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Our faith is the outstretched hand that receives the gift of salvation. Faith is not a force that gives us power- God alone is the source of all power. We need to accept and believe
on Him for the relationship to begin, grow and flourish. Grace is the unmerited favor that God offers to all who willingly
believe. He is a personal God, not an impersonal force. He is a person that desires you know Him and that you may live a life that accomplishes His specific purposes
while you are here on earth.
