Official Coronation Issue
PEEK-A-BOO PRESIDENT
Parade performers will
have security escorts to the bathroom, and they've been ordered not to look
directly at President Bush or make any sudden movements while passing the
reviewing stand.
Truffulaut hopes that
someone or some group will do a right-face and stare directly at the occupant
of Our White House. The response would
make for some exciting TV, but not showing up might be the wisest course of
action.

NOT ONE THIN DIME DAY
All of the advertising
has said damn dime, but Truffulaut refuses call a coin with the profile of
FDR on it a damn anything. The only
coins I spend are Roosevelts and Lincolns, and I often refer to Lincoln as the
last honest Republican. If you have
not read them, emails encouraging people not to spend any money at all on
January 20, 2005. Its sorta like
voting with your pocketbook. The
possibility remains that sales on the 19th and the 21st
will make the economic impact negligible, and most people working where money
is spent are not enemies, but perhaps the number of participants will be noted
somewhere.
HOWEVER
BLACK THURSDAY (brief flash graphic
presentation)
Truffulaut
has long advocated a National Strike.
Someone else has decided to go for it.
The re-election of George W. Bush, in spite of his
innumerable failures of policy and practice throughout his first term, inspires
disbelief among many. How is it that a
man who has overseen the deaths of over 100,000 people in the course of a war
fought on specious grounds at a cost of hundreds of billions of dollars and in
violation of international laws manages to retain his office? How is it that a man who seemingly dedicates
himself to the eradication of virtually all socially-beneficial government
programs from public education to social security retains the confidence of a
large portion of the population? And
how is it that the national press can continually ignore the abundant evidence
of incompetence and malfeasance, maintaining a posture of ostensibly impartial
reportage even as they recount a once-unimaginable litany of absurdities,
deceits, and insanities ranging from the scuttling of social programs to
state-sanctioned torture in military prisons?

Congress? We dont need no stinking Congress,

Report of the National Intelligence Council's
2020 Project
These
scenarios are not meant as actual forecasts,
but they describe possible worlds upon whose threshold we may be entering,
depending on how trends interweave and play out:
* Davos World
provides an illustration of how robust economic growth, led by China and
India, over the next 15 years could reshape the globalization process giving
it a more non-Western face and transforming the political playing field as
well.
* Pax Americana
takes a look at how US predominance may survive the radical changes to the
global political landscape and serve to fashion a new and inclusive global
order.
* A New Caliphate
provides an example of how a global movement fueled by radical religious
identity politics could constitute a challenge to Western norms and values as
the foundation of the global system.
* Cycle of Fear
provides an example of how concerns about proliferation might increase to
the point that large-scale intrusive security measures are taken to prevent
outbreaks of deadly attacks, possibly introducing an Orwellian world.
Of course, these
scenarios illustrate just a few of the possible futures that may develop over
the next 15 years
Apparently, the notion
of Peaceful Co-existence
is as obsolete as the Hydrogen Bomb...

PRESENTED FOR YOUR AMUSEMENT
THE WORLD
IS A GHETTO
Rarely do people on the
Internet apologize. The world needs to
understand that there are people in America who don't like what our government
is doing. And there are people in the
international community who appreciate this.
Also, it's kind of amusing.

ALIENS AND ROBOTS
Truffulaut is opposed
to changing the Constitution. Some have
said that permitting only native-born Americans to become President is obsolete,
but that requirement is a gift to our nation from its father, George
Washington. In these times, I will
support and defend (and fight any changes to) the Constitution we are far
more likely to lose than to gain. But
not everyone agrees with me...
