To the contrary, these five officials repeatedly made misleading statements about the threat posed by Iraq. Texans, as part of Mexico, lived under Spanish rule from 1519 to 1821 (with a brief gap when the French controlled Mexico). Thus what is now the Lone Star State was part of the Kingdom of Spain for nearly twice as long as it has been part of the United States of America. Recent tragic events remind us that all people of all nations are inter-connected.

I offer condolences to Spain and its citizens who have suffered much and wish them all the best in the future. A statement from the Communications Director of the Coucil on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR - http://www.cair-net.org) describes clearly our best course of action: "An apparent goal of the terrorists is to divide the world along religious and national lines The most appropriate response to these vicious attacks is to strengthen and expand relations between people of all faiths and cultural origins."
