October 2 - 4, 2009 Fall Camporee at Sterns

8-8-09 – 8-15-09 Tomahawk Boy Scouts Camp
The first night of camp it rained. The next night it rained The next night it didn’t.
Everyone had merit badges from life saving to geology. Frank had an accident with a hatchet that needed stitches.
Frank and Brian found a new favorite thing in sailing.
In life saving the sadist instructor made winey poop face (Brian) and nightwalker (Mark) sit in a sauna for an hour and a half, and then save a lifeguard.
Robbie, George, and Dan when out kayaking. 
All of the scouts and some of the adult leaders had fun with a Frisbee game Brian introduced.
Some brave souls (Ryan, Paul, and Justin) braved the climbing merit badge.
Robbie and George and Ryan earned Tenderfoot rank.   
Special thanks: Mr. Klappa and Mr. Savoie for a donated a week of their lives. 
Mrs. Lawson for a donated day to deliver the troop trailer to camp.
Mr. Pratt for a donated day to picked up the trailer.
Mrs. Weaver for a donated day driving part of the troop to camp.
All done so we could go to camp!

7-19-09 Raspberry Festival The troop had a booth that sold hot dogs, sno-cones, pop, water and candy bars. The money raised is to help the scouts pay for summer camp.

6-26-09 - 6-27-09 Relay For Life The troop camped out at the Hopkins High School football field to participate in the fight against cancer. They helped set up luminaries around the track and took turns walking around the track.

6-22-09 Troop and Pack Picnic The troop worked on their Cooking Merit Badge while cooking with various fire styles for the picnic at Central Park with the Cub Scout pack.

5-29-09  Kiwanas Boy Scout Camp by the Saint Croix River. 
Our first night at Kiwanas was all about getting set up. We pitched tents, set up the rain fly and patrol boxes and officially moved in to our camp sight. In the morning Robbie and Dan where assigned to cook breakfast. We had pancakes, yum! They were also in charge of cleaning up. Later in the morning the troop did a service project for the camp. Our job was to do some landscaping near one of the cabins. We had to smooth out lots of dirt and pack it up against a storm shelter. After that we went down to a bouldering wall and some other fun activities. Later we came back to lunch were George and I made lunch and cleaned it. We made Mack N' Cheese and Cool Aid. After lunch we went to the Kiwanas ranch and pet some goats and ponies, then we hiked down to the St. Croix River end hung out down there. We came back to camp to have a lashing competition. George and I vs Mr. Hechler, Dan, Alex and Robbie. George and I won with our tee pee and their sword and shield. Then we made dinner hamburgers and hot dogs. Dan, Robbie, George and I cooked and Alex & Mr. Hechler cleaned. That night we played kick ball and volley ball. We also made smores. Over night George and I slept in the tee pee we made. In The morning we packed up and left.

5-30-09 At Kiwanas Boy Scout camp Mrs. Lawson took the training to become Saftey Range Officer for Archery and BB Guns.

5-14-09 Flag Day Ceremony Alex, Christopher, Dan and Robbie participated in the Flag Day ceremony at downtown park.

5-09-09 Rifle Merit Badge
Mark, Robbie and Dan earned the riffle merit badge while attending an afternoon class at Beaverbrook Tri-County
Sportsmen's Club.

5-9-09  Congratulations to Harry Torvik and Mike Lick on their Eagle Court of Honor on Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church.  It was a fairly fenzied journey for both of them, as they both joined with only a few months or a single month to spare, but both boys put their heads down and did a good job of pushing to the end.

4-03-09 Camp Out at Phillippo Scout Reservation

4 adult leaders and 10 Scouts went camping at Camp Phillipo April 3-5.
Activities: We worked with an ax and hatchet, working on the Totin’ Chip. We played night games like kick ball and capture the flag. Also we whittled, making spears.
Note: If any of you have improvements for eggs in a bag please tell us;  We need them  BADLY.
Things that worked: Raman, Night games.
Things that failed: Eggs in a bag.

3-8-09  Congratulations to Harry Torvik for earning the rank of Eagle.

3-06-09 Camp Out at Phillippo Scout Reservation

4 adult leaders and 12 Scouts went camping at Camp Phillipo March 6 - 7. We played night games. We went on a long hike to Friendship Point. We had a lashing contest.

12-15-08 Congratulations to Mike Lick for earning the rank of Eagle.

2-1-08 Congratulations to Chris Gamble for earning the rank of Eagle.

February 2008 Mike Lick, Harry Torvik, Chris Gamble, and Paul Draper braved the 35 below temps and 60 below windchills at Okpik. Many Scouts have acquired a new definition of cold.

January 11-13 2008 Okpik National High Adventure Winter Campout 
For the 7 boys 14 and older.

4-22-07 The Boys had a pretty good time doing Disc Golf at Bryant Lake Park on the 16th

4-4-07 Great turnout at the campout at Fred C. Anderson Scout Camp last weekend. Over 30 people with Boy Scouts, leaders, Cub Scouts, and parents.  Good thing we had the shelter, as it rained most of the trip.

3-21-07 Congratulations to Andy Fairbanks on his ceremony in honor of earning his Eagle rank on Sunday the 20th.

2-20-07 Good weekend ski trip to Spirit Mountain.

2-12-07 Congrats to all the boys who received rank advancements and merit badges tonight. Congrats also to Andy Fairbanks who received word that he has had his Eagle approved- we look forward to his Court of Honor. Skiing trip to Spirit Mountain this weekend. look for an e-mail.

Congratulations to Greg Incitti on receiving his Eagle at St. Josephs on Sunday January 14th.  A good ceremony and excellent refreshments after.  Also congratulations to Laurie for the great Scrapbooking.

10-17-05  Last weekend we went camping at Carver Park Group site #3 at  Lake Zumbro.  Friday night was spent around the campfire with smores and the boys congregated in and around Davids truck (new toy).  Saturday the Webelo's joined us for some games and a Chouba hunt- Chris will tell the story sometime.  We played capture the flag with the Webelo's before they went home.  The Scouts then played glow in the dark touch football and a new and evolving game of hide and go seek tag, complete with Harry's gilly suit. Pretty good timefor all.

August: Nine Scouts went Bowling at Tuttles for 6 games on a Saturday afternoon.  We had pizza and soft drinks for refreshments, and then the boys went out to Westwood Nature Centure to finish Andy's Eagle Project.

Summer Camp 2005 at Voyager Bay near Outing MN

12 Scouts and their leaders will depart for camp at Voyager Bay, in conjunction with Troop 347 of Eden Prairie, bright and early Saturday Morning July 30th.  They will return Saturday August 6th.  At camp they will have the opportunity to earn 3 of 15 or so merit badges being offered.  They will enhance their camping skills, strengthen their swimming skills, maybe get better at rifle, shotgun or archery shooting, etc.  Have a great time, everyone!
 
We also have 2 scouts at the National Jamboree in Virginia at Fort A.P. Hill.  they have already spent 6 full days touring Washington DC, and are in the midst of 11 days camping at the Jamboree with 30,000+ other Scouts.  The places they visited were: Jefferson Memorial, Franklin D Roosevelt Memorial, United States Marine Corps Memorial, Gettysburg Battlefield, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Ford Theatre and Peterson House, International Spy Museum, Smithsonian Buildings South Side, US Capitol tours and group picture, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, Wreath-Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, Contingent picture at the Grant Memorial, Smithsonian Buildings North Side, Washington Monument, Annapolis Naval Academy tour, Fort McHenry, Baltimore Inner Harbor, Troop Religious services at Norfolk Naval Base, Virginia Beach, Overnight at Oceana Naval Air Base, and finally bus to the Jamboree.
 
Next Jamboree is in 2010 (100th anniversary of Scouting)
