DEBATING OVER DISPENSATIONALISM & REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY
I have had many disagreements with brothers, yes, brothers, over the years with respect to the issues of Dispensational & Replacement Theology. What really hurts me the most is these brothers who disagree with me, want nothing to do with me and have almost declared me an unbeliever over the issues, some more than others. So once again I am going to attempt to explain myself in sincere hope that those who read this will realize the real distaste that I have for brother hating brother over these issues!
First of all let me clearly express the fear of God that I posses on this subject. I would never dare suggest to God or instruct God with respect to those he chooses to show mercy on. Let me quite frankly say, as long as I am one of his elect and receive mercy from God, I can only fear and tremble before him, to acknowledge this. This is much to great for me! I cannot imagine the hoar of living this life without Jesus, much more, eternity!
DISPENSATIONALIST LISTEN CLOSELY AND SEE WHY YOU MUST LOVE ME AS A BROTHER!
I dislike dispensationalism because it teaches a distinction between the Christian Jews and the unbelieving Jew. The unbelieving Jew is said to have hope that the Christian Jew does not have. This boils down to nothing other than Jew worshiping! This kind of teaching gives rise to the Hebrew Roots movement and teaches Jews to be arrogant against the branches that were grafted into the tree. They fail to understand, although they were natural branches, they themselves were also grafted back into the tree. They fail to understand that once a wild olive branch is grafted into the tree of life, it becomes a part of the tree just as they were. They look at the tree and say look at those grafted in wild branches and look at those natural branches, aren't the natural branches so much more beautiful!! When I look at the tree, I see all the branches as being grafted in whether wild or natural. I see the beauty of the wild branches just as the natural branches, because they have partaken from the life of the tree. Should a grafted branch be cut of the tree due to unbelief, it can also be grafted back in just as the natural branch that was cut off.
Recently I heard a dispensationalist preacher declare "The ONLY reason you Gentiles are saved, is to make the Jews jealous". I began to analyze this statement. I asked myself the question, So the ONLY reason God chose me to be married to him, is to make his adulterous wife mad?! That is his ONLY purpose for me? I must be an abject failure! I don't recall making any unbelieving Jews jealous! I can see how the original Church of the First Born, made the Jews jealous. But for the most part, Christianity today, or the Church today has become the laughing stock of the unbelieving Jew, I don't think they are jealous at all!
Paul the apostle, being a natural branch, grieved tremendously for his people, recorded in the book of Romans, he wanted them saved. Am I now your enemy because I grieve for my people, scattered around the world in different denominations, seemingly tossed into different believes and confusion? Am I wrong for saying, "Brethren, My heart's desire and prayer to God for proclaiming Christians, Jew and Gentile, that they might be saved?
Dispensationalist do not believe that most old testament promises apply to the Church. Let me give you one example of a promise that has been very encouraging to me, but as a dispensationalist, I must reject!
1 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.
2 Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;
3 For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.
4 Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.
5 For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.
6 ¶ For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
7 For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.
8 In a little wrath I hid my face from thee for a moment; but with everlasting kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the LORD thy Redeemer.
9 For this is as the waters of Noah unto me: for as I have sworn that the waters of Noah should no more go over the earth; so have I sworn that I would not be wroth with thee, nor rebuke thee.
10 For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee.
11 ¶ O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and not comforted, behold, I will lay thy stones with fair colours, and lay thy foundations with sapphires.
12 And I will make thy windows of agates, and thy gates of carbuncles, and all thy borders of pleasant stones.
13 And all thy children shall be taught of the LORD; and great shall be the peace of thy children.
14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.
15 Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake.
16 Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
NO! According to the dispensationalist, I can only look forward to a life of trials and persecution, never to possibly witness the victory of my people in this life, only to disaprear someday in a secret rapture. Dispensationalist believe that the Church of the firstborn will go down in history with defeat and apostasy only to make way for a group of unbelieving Jews that will miraculously become the servants of the Lord! These Jews will never have had anyone to preach to them, because the Church is no more here on earth. They will go through great trouble and from this will come forth as gold, the only servants of God on earth! It is also noted that since the Church age will end in apostasy, there will never be any purified as gold or salvation for the Church as a people here on earth!
Brothers, that is a little hard for me to swallow! Would you terribly mind if I give heed to the following verses found in Romans 2:6-11
6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
ON THE OTHER HAND, THIS IS WHY I DISLIKE REPLACEMENT THEOLOGY
I am not going to say as much about this teaching simply because there are plenty of people that speak against it. My main problem with Replacement Theology is that it's taught mostly by groups that have other theological problems. Groups like David Koresh, Jehovah's witnesses and many more that use the scriptures to interpret themselves as the Nation of Israel. There does need to be some distinction between the Gentiles and the Jews, as far as scripture allows. I can tell you for certain that Paul the Apostle would not have written Romans 9-11 if no distinction between the Church and National Israel existed. While I disagree with Replacement Theology, I also believe that dispensationalist improperly understand the true distinction between National Israel and the Church. Replacement Theology seems to be somewhat arrogant against the natural branches and too easily dismisses the scriptures that point to the Israel - Church distinction. While Replacement Theology seems to thrive off of soon to be experienced earthly victories, leaving people with false hopes for the here and now, dispensationalist leaves me with far too little hope for the here and now, where the Church is concerned.
SIRS, PLEASE LEAVE ME OUT OF THIS DEBATE! DON'T DISCOUNT ME AS A MATURE BROTHER JUST BECAUSE I AM NOT SOLD ON EITHER OF THESE ENDTIME SCENARIOS. WHY SHOULD I BELIEVE YOU? I AM WAITING AND WATCHING! I HOPE TO BE GONE IN THE RAPTURE AND VICTORIOUS HERE ON EARTH! MAY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST BE GLORIFIED!!
