THE DETECTIVE PERSPECTIVE
Detectives move through literature like syrup through a pancake house. Some have noted that were there as many cops on the street as are in the varied entertainment venues, ours would be a safer world. This program looks at the mystery and suspense genres through the eyes of a real-life private detective, including some real-life detective stories. He knows whereof he speaks, he's a published mystery writer, too.  Good program for general audiences.

Painters with Words
Mention poetry to most modern students (along with many adults) and the reaction consists of rolling eyes and moans.  This program uses the talents of an actor-reader and a selection of poets to convince the disbelievers that poetry is much more than roses violets and moonbeams. Good program for library, school and general audiences.

At your Service
This program is similar to Painters With Words but focuses on the work of Robert W. Service, often called "The Peoples' Poet" because of his down-to-earth verse and rugged sense of humor. Selections include "The Shooting of Dan McGrew" and "TheCremation of Sam McGee."

Great Lakes Tales
There are many stories of myster and adventure in and around the inland seas known as the Great Lakes. This program features a taste of the little-known history, adventure and mystery of the area. What is the Flying Dutchman of Lake Superior? What lake Captain disappeared without a trace in Lake Michigan while the crew worked above his cabin? You'll know soon when you choose Great Lakes Tales.

Orsini and Friend
There once was a well-known actor and director who was also a dedicated magician.  Learn a bit of the life and times of George Orson Welles and experience the joy of magic when you book a visit by Orsini and Friend.

The Beggars' Feast
It is not a one-man show but it certainly qualifies as a special program. When knighthood was in flower, a part of the population was more like weeds.  These are the folk you'll meet at the Beggars' Feast.  Join the King of the Mendicants and his jolly band as they conduct the "Beggars' Basic Course" and the "School for Thieves." It's a grand, good time for all at the lower end of the social ladder.
