Here's what I got today:
Floyd Cramer - We Wish You a Merry Christmas RCA ANS1-1951
Morton Gould -Jungle Drums More Jungle Drums RCA R8S 5030 (Melted pinch roller)
Engelbert Humperdinck - His Greatest Hits London/ Decca / Parrot PAS8-71067
Al Martino - I Love You Because Capitol 8XY 4590
The Larry Page Orchestra - Page Full of Hits Bell L-78-2500
Jimmy Roselli - Love & Naples M & R Agita Productions Ltd. C-1030 (All songs in Italian.)
Frank Sinatra - Come Fly With Me Capitol 8XY-4528 (Sealed.)
Frank Sinatra - Only the Lonely Capitol 8XY-4533

The rest are bootlegs or pirated carts, more properly. These are cheap, poor quality copies of popular albums. The songs are usually in a different order than the original album. I think this must be because it would be harder for a major record label to claim that their album had been duplicated. Pirate tapes also almost always say something to the effect of "All statutory royalties paid". What I wonder is if they aren't pretty much always lying when they say that. There are often no addresses on the carts or boxes for the company. Sometimes no company name either. Sometimes cart labels look almost identical, but claim to be made by different companies. The labels are cheaply made too, often with nothing but the songlist on the front, sometimes with inappropriate pictures for the music, or many different artists all using the same picture. My fascination with these companies grows all the time. I want to find out who they were and how they worked.

The tapes are:
From Magnitron Inc. Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Best of Tommy Dorsey #1619
The Best of Guy Lombardo Vol. 1 #1783
Paul McCartney Wing Wild Life #272
The Best of Glenn Miller #1561
Frank Sinatra - Greatest Hits #1696
Sinatra & Company #1555
Nancy Sinatra - Greatest Hits # 1599 (Sealed.)
Youngbloods - Good & Dusty #278
also from Oklahoma City, but not attributed to Magnitron
and appeared somewhat different:
Movie Themes of the 60s #E-397

Two others are Globe 8. They say Creative Productions 1973 distributed by Sea Side Sounds. Top hits recorded in the style of your favorite artists by Globe 8 singers and musicians.
A Salute to Jimmy Roselli #455
A Salute to Sergio Franchi #443
One looks like these, but bears no information:
Jimmy Roselli - Let Me Sing and I'm Happy #842

One is an Apollo 8 from Apollo Productions, 8 Richie Rd. Revere MA. 02152. It says Apollo 8 is an electronically manufactured sound-alike, made in the style of your favorite artists by our own apelike (sic) musicians. It has a picture of the Apollo Space Shuttle on the cover and stars on the box.
Sinatra - The Main Event Live From Madison Square Garden #765

One is a DEC8 or it could be Deco8, the 8 is inside the O. There is no address.
Mantovani - Italia Mia #262

One has absolutely no info except:
Tony Bennett - I've Gotta Be Me, the songlist and "Stereo Eight".

The last one is from Eagle Mfg.Co. No address. This has a beautiful shiny gold, red and black label with a graphic of a woman's face and a design of music notes on staff.
Old 'n Gold - Vol.24 Country Super Hits #E-271 w/Buck Owens, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Jim Reeves, Sonny James, etc. The box is nice too - gold with music notes.
I really like this lot because of all the boxes that give me some information on pirate companies.

Today somebody came to my job at the bookstore with a whole case of 24 8-tracks! I have hung an 8-track over the buying desk, so people know I want them. It says "Yes, Hilary wants your 8-tracks" on one side and "(U want to) Bring Hilary 8-track tapes" on the other along with some suggested groups to bring: Devo, B52s and The Velvet Underground. The ones I got today are almost all bootlegs and Frank Sinatra, but 24 8-tracks for $5 is always alright with me. Happy now.
