Parameters for an all 8-Track era Worst Song list
I've spent hours pouring over old Billboard lists of top 100 songs from the years 1968-1982. I believe these are the years you could most reasonably expect all the hits songs to have been produced on 8-track.
This is impossible to do without tipping some sacred cows. All of these songs were hits and presumably have some fans, so I can't avoid offending people. Many people have written to say they like certain songs on the Blender list, even some that I can't stand like 'Sunglasses at Night'. The process is very subjective. What I will eventually have is a list of the 50 songs I hate most, with some input from friends.
But they will be all songs I have (or could get) on 8-track!
For me this is a labor of love. I actually love schlocky music. So picking the worst of the worst does not mean I won't ever listen to these songs. In fact, I will probably make a compilation 8-track or 2 featuring them in order, saving the worst for last.
I notice my biases tend to be against sappy, sentimental songs (Feelings); 80s bubblegum pop (Pop Musik); and gimicky, humorous songs (Afternoon Delight); so these will be heavily represented.
This is my working list:(It will be evolving as I find more songs and add them, dropping the least offensive song from the list.)
