I thought that "Outcasts" was a well written western. I've yet to read the others but I will. A friend of mine, knowing that I enjoy a good western, sent it to me. I'm a big fan of westerns. Louis L'amour is my favorite of all time, however if you keep writing I'll keep buying. So when is the next book supposed to come out? Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

I enjoyed your web site. My mother and I both enjoy western type romances and after seeing your web site I'll have to e-mail her and tell her that I've found us another author's books to read. We read an average of 5 to 6 paperbacks a week, so in a years time we quickly go through a stack of books. We like to mail them back and forth to each other. Well take care and I enjoyed your site.

Mr. McGuire,

I wanted to tell you that I was spellbound through "Outcasts". It is the first novel of yours that I have read, and I am scrambling to obtain the first three novels of Clay Cole's story. I picked it up on impulse (I usually read the romance westerns), and I felt like I'd found my own world. (As a young mother of 3, I occasionally need my own world!) Thank you for sharing Clay Cole's and yours.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Renee Hooker

Dear Tim,

My compliments!! GOLD OF CORTES is a very good Western and in my opinion the best novel I read in 2001. I was a little sceptical about an
archaeological
treasure hunt in Texas Anno 1881, but you did it very well. You even use humor which is rare in modern Westerns.I am sure that we will hear more about you in the coming years as you know
how to write a good story. I will not be surprised if you receive a Spur for one of your novels. You deseve it.
I love Westerns and I read about 50 Westerns a year (I also read other types of literature.)
When I start with a new author I want stories I believe in. Books about real people in a real world dealing with real problems and how they solve their problems in a way I believe in.You have filled my wants and I am satisfied. I understand that you work long with any new novel. Go on and I'll follow you. Western writers are a rare breed. We, the readers, must take care of those we like to read.
I have a nose for good writeres. I discovered Elmer Kelton, Will Henry and Louis L'Amour long before they became famous.

Happy New Year to you and your family. You will hear from me again.

By the way.
T.V.Olsen wrote a book about archaeology: TREASURE IN THE SUN which is horrible. In my opinion that book should never have been printed.

Best regards from a fan in
Norway

Just finished reading Outcasts and really enjoyed. It's another great Clay Cole adventure. I do have to admit that I didn't really like the way Clay made a quick judgment and shot the Indian woman. To me it seemed a little out of character for him, but by the end of chapter two I had forgotten my dislikes and really enjoyed the rest of the story. I liked how you developed Clay's relationship with Little Bear from seeing her as a burden to finding it very difficult to giver her up. I was also glad that the ending holds promise for more books. I can't wait to read the next one.

Tim, You may not remember me, I worked at Moritz in 1983 or 1984 as a service advisor and I believe you were there at that time. I am glad to see you got smart and got out of the rat race, I am still in it though not in the retail end. I am a consultant for MSX International, a subsidary of Ford. I am currently in Boston and lo and behold I am looking for a new western novel by Elmer Kelton, Jack Ballas or Kerry Newcomb and I see your book. I open up the back cover and see your picture and recognize you. We both look a "little" older. I bought the book of course, I will email you when I have finished reading it. I'll let you know more about how I like 'The Rainmaker' after I've seen how the character develops in the next book(s).

I just finished reading "Outcasts", my first Tim McGuire which I enjoyed greatly though I almost froze to death trudging through the mountains. I am now hooked and eagerly await the next installment of Clay Cole's adventures. I do feel however that I am being unfaithful to Larry McMurtry. Your picture should be on the front as the character instead of the back.

Nobility
Finished
this a couple of days ago.

I found that it continued the story of The Rainmaker well and has me looking forward to reading the next book. When I'll get round to this I'm not sure as I very rarely read two books by the same author in a row.

I thought the portrayal of the children was very well done and it was these characters that were involved in my favourite part of the book, that with the wolves.

Good un Tim.

Mr. McGuire:

I just read Outcasts and found that I couldn't put it down. I nearly burned our breakfast this morning--I was in the middle of a shootout. I only chose Outcasts at the local Bookmobile because the choices are getting slim--I had read about every western romance available on it and was going to have to resort to going to the library for my material. I was so glad I did choose your book. I had my doubts since you're not a woman (Ha! Ha!) and the book was not designated a "romance". I have read hundreds, and I do mean hundreds, of romance novels (my favorites being westerns). I enjoyed the book very much and can't wait to get to the library for the previous ones. I get them from the library first and then buy them if I really like them. Outcasts is one I will be looking for at the bookstore.

I use reading as my escape from everyday life. I escaped for the short time it took me to read this book and enjoyed traversing the west with Cole and his companions. It had special meaning to me as during the summer of 2001 my husband, two children and I went west for our vacation. It was a dream come true for me and I can't wait until 2004 when I hope to go again. We traveled through the
Black Hills, Montana and Wyoming. I sometimes believe that in another life I was a pioneer or adventurer in that part of our great nation. There is a pull to that land that I cannot explain. Your book took me back to those places I visited and loved so much. Maybe after I read the other books, other parts of the West will have more appeal to me.

It seems I'm writing my own novel here! Anyway great job on the book! The only thing I would have liked is to have poor Maud live and head to California and find happiness. It was good the baby made it. I hate it when books make me cry and if Little Bear had died I think I would have. But can't have everything!

Hi Tim:

I just wanted to drop a quick note to a fellow Leisure author and tell you how much I’ve enjoyed your novels, especially DANGER RIDGE and OUTCASTS. Your straightforward, action-packed, hard-hitting style following the lives of unsettled Americans in the post-Civil War age works to draw the reader in and keep him entertained. But it’s all the melancholia beneath the surface that really hits home: the uncertain morality, tormented and haunted characters where the past never quite lets go, and the drive to dig out a personal destiny.

I look forward to your next one whenever it hits the shelves. Continued success.

Best,
Tom Piccirilli

Tim,

Last night I finished "Outcasts" which
Sharon brought home to me with your great message inside of it. This book let me experience nearly every emotion a man can have. I so identified with those little brown eyes. Near the end of the book, when Cole thought that Little Bear had frozen to death, I was sitting in Luby's having lunch, and I sobbed so loudly that half the room turned their attention to me.
Please keep up the great work you are doing and I will look forward to the next adventure.

My thanks and admiration.

dear tim, while on a recent visit to chicago, for sister-in-law's 60th anniversary, gen roche, lent me two of your books. i like stories that keep the same main character. i especially liked OUTCASTS with the small girl and the tender care she received from cole. my main recreational reading seems to go to dectective or lawyer type stories, but your two books (also NOBILITY) have gotten me back to westerns. your "cousin don has also written a book ..ON HELL'S PERIMETERS which is about his PBY squadron in the s.pacific during wwII.he can be found on the computer, but will have a web page up and running in about three weeks. love to hear from you sometime. How do Mr. McGuire,
I just finished Nobelity a couple nights back and I have to tell you I had one problem with it....
lack of sleep, I had a hard time puttin' the book down, I sat up 'til 3:00 a.m. weds. night. I was having a great time reading and just going. I tried to put it down a couple of times but, well it was getting exciting and I just kept going.
Perhaps it was a good thing It was late and nobody else was around when I finished cause I was not exactly dry eyed if you know what I mean.
I enjoyed the book. Thanks! I thought it read well. Moved along real smooth like riding a buggy down an old
Georgia clay road that's only used Sundays when folks go to church.
I haven't read too many westerns, Don't know why,
NO
, I know why TV... I've grown up Watching westerns and love them.
Recently I cut the cable TV off,,, ,ok, so the cable company cut the cable TV off so instead of paying $100.00 a month forever for a dish I got me a library card and have been reading more and more. I was going by the westerns section and saw the usuals Louis L'amour et al, but something about the name of this particular author just jumped out and grabed me,
Tim McGuire, I had to read it,
Well I'm glad I did and now I'm ready for Danger Ridge.
Sincerly,
Tim
Maguire.

Tim McGuire,

I have read "Nobility","Danger Ridge", and at this very moment I am reading "Gold of Cortes." I feel like I have actually been with Clay as he stays one step ahead of Major Perry, always getting into some sort of trouble at every turn. In addition, I was very sad when Clay had to leave Ann, Evie, and Noah Hayes, but one knew it had to be. Sorry, It all seems so real to me. I have read many western novels in my time, and I have a passion for history, but your novels are in a class of their own. Your way of describing situations and places makes it all come to life. Everything seems to fit together and it all makes sense. Like you said, "It is like watching a movie." Very good work! Keep it up and I look forward to your next western novel very soon.

Hey there! Danger Ridge was the first book I read. I was reading the back to get an idea of what the storyline was and when I read that Clay Cole was the name of the character, my name is Clayton Cole...no kidding!, I bought it and now I have that one plus Nobility, Cortez's Gold and Outcast. I really enjoy the way each is written. I am looking forward to the next book after Outcast. I am curious about what adventure Clay faces next. My home address is: 2701 W. Kingsbury...Seguin, Tx. 78155-6605. If you could write me because I would love to get an autographed copy of any of the 4. As I read each book, since my name is the same as Mr. Cole's, I picture myself going through the adventure. I wanted to write you and tell you I enjoy each book and to tell you the name being the same as mine! Take care and God Bless!
