Who we are: Familes and singles who believe that a world of friends is a world of peace, and
that each individual can make a difference in the lives of others.
Our location: Including, but not limited to the cities of Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa and the cities
of Rock Island, Moline and East Moline, Illinois. The Mississippi river unites us!
What we are about: Serving as Ambassadors and Hosts to the nations of the world. Usually, an outbound
exchange is two weeks and an inbound exchange is one week. In both cases, participants live in a home setting, sharing
the unique characteristics of each culture. As an Ambassador, there is often an opportunity to travel on your own
after the homestay.
How we began: Organized in 1981 with simultaneous inbound and outbound exchanges with Korea, after the founding
of The Friendship Force by President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter and Wayne Smith in 1977.
How we operate: Governed by a 12 member board that meets monthly and elected by the membership. An
annual meeting is held in the fall. Quarterly activities are often set around some aspect of past, present or future
exchanges. Annual dues are $25 for singles and $35 for familes.
Be advised that: The Friendship Force of Quad Cities is not a low-cost travel agency. However, if
being up close to another culture with a different lifestyle is in your future, then come and join us!
