Tennessee Power CompanyTennessee Power Company (TPCO) was
incorporated in the State of
TPCO is currently involved primarily in
wholesale power transactions; however, it is marketing green
tags or renewable certificates applicable in both the wholesale and
retail markets. In addition, TPCO is involved in several electric power
generating projects categorized by FERC as either qualifying facilities (QFs)
or exempt wholesale generators (EWGs). See Biomass
& Methane Projects above for information regarding QF and/or EWG
projects currently under development. See Greenhouse Gas
Reductions above if you have an interest in reducing greenhouse gases.
TPCO's founder and president, Michael R.
Knauff, served for several years with the Tennessee Valley Authority in various
positions relating to power marketing and interutility business. Since leaving
TVA he has served as a regional manager of an unregulated marketing subsidiary
of PSI, the largest electric utility in Indiana (which subsequently merged with
CG&E to form Cinergy), and was part of the core group which formed a power
marketing subsidiary for the AES Corporation, one of the largest international
independent power producers in the world.
