Thanks for visiting Citizen Swimming Kid, you crazy, potential U.S. citizen you. On this page, you'll find lots of links to U.S. Government agencies, historical documents and images, Library of Congress and National Archives exhibits and resources. You can
register to vote in this area as well as check up on your elected officials's voting records and so forth. Links to FEC financial reports also. Except for St. Croix, USVI, where the commissioner is of the opinion that he is doing everyone a favor by telling us anything. And apparently he's not the kind of fellow to do the public any favors. There are not-so-mainstream sites here also, but hey, it's a free country.
Citizen SK is provided as a service to the general public, voting or otherwise, to promote active participation in our democracy. After all, if no one votes or oversees the actions of elected officials, it's really not much of a democracy. It would be more like the Grammys or the Oscars (or these days, an Enron board meeting). So take a look around and see if any of this interests you (I don't think the FBI is watching, yet). You might be amazed at how crazy government can really be when it's in high gear.
Well, now we've moved on to corporate problems. It'll be interesting to see how this one works out. Ride on the STOCK MARKET while G.W. tries to rope in the capitalists gone mad with hangovers. Place your vote on investor confidence, but do it appropriately. Buy something, or not. Maybe 1 share of Coke stock since they vow to do it right? Maybe not. Try PG. And remember, this may all be your fault for buying all that stock in the first place trying to make a buck or 70 million so you don't have to retire to some retirement community run by some company with a crappy stock price. Don't you wish sometimes you could be a federal employee and just take your COLA and retirement and not worry so much.
Meanwhile, keep an eye out for John Ashcroft. This guy really seems to not like the Constitution at all. I thought burning flags was a little strange, but burning the Constitution. Well maybe he won't. It's not really a book, after all. Check out some his antics on the
ACLU website, including the legislative package for domestic electronic intelligence gathering that the DOJ is preparing now. Hide your credit card numbers or Uncle Sammy will have them. Check out
PGP Encryption Tools if you're really concerned.
