To many, he would have represent defeat
rather then deliverance
- He would have
been scorned not admired
- Talked about
not learned about
Considered
a lunatic, crazy, perverted, a murderer, adulterer, liar, thief, deceiver, one not to be trusted,
People always look at the negative. They identify failure before victory, evil before goodness… because they can identify with evil,
the heart is deceitfully wicked… no one knows therein.
By seeing the bad in another person elevates
the good in one self own perception of oneself. By recognizing the bad in a person,
one can feel better about oneself in that moment. Praising himself that he is
not like that bad one… even though secretly he has been just as evil… in that moment, another man's faults overshadows
his own, to were he feels better about who he is…
Pride blinds a person and causes them to believe
that they are something that they are not… some how they are better then others maybe not perfect… but somehow
better.
Pride screams… look at me, how good I am,
how well I've done, how I am not like others, I am somewhat greater, better, more knowledgeable, prettier, better looking,
smarter, more together, one to be admired, respected, worshiped…
Not one who represent bad, wrong, failure, deceiver,
liar, not to be trusted, stupid, ugly, gross, fall short of the mark, one who deserves no attention, unworthy of respect,
and the last one on earth to be modeled after…
As good and evil dwell together… so does
self worth (self esteem) and pride
And sometimes one's pride is the only self worth
that they have. And so they constantly are looking for approval, to be noticed
by others, to be respected, admired. But their true self worth remains low and
empty… causing them to live on the approval of others.
But we do not even begin to be "complete as a
person" until we understand our self worth as it relates to the totality of life, it is then and only then that we can take
"pride" in who we are, what we do, and what we are becoming.
Putting David in this Decade.... we could learn a lot about ourselves. But, be
encouraged... David was a man after God's own heart... David made it... and so can we.
