This is Phil's room. He usually keeps his backpack here, along with other things when he's not
traveling.

Phil ooohs... "Alone at last."
Phil
A young ant with dark blue/purple skin. He is no more than 16 or so, with young eyes and a sarcastic expression. The other ants usually think of him as strange, but he likes to call himself 'adventurous.'
Phil is often seen observing, though, rather than acting. He likes to know what's going on around him before he'll open his mouth.
He is usually wearing a headband, made of thin woven roots. He also has a backpack, but he usually leaves that in his room, and stores things in there.
Holly pants. "That thing takes a lot out of you! >.<
Holly
Holly is a young slender ant with the shade of a medium blue tint. Eyes of a deep green, having almost a forest tint to them. A couple of freckles dot her hands and and about five or six on her facial area. She is a rather slender and attractive ant, aged in her mid to late 20's, and has an alluring yet very down to earth type of personality. She is easy to get along with, and always shows interest in the welfare of others, but occasionally one might notice something just a little peculiar about her if they watched her close enough. Can't always be too sure.
Holly says, "Just let me catch my breath before we continue."
Phil raises an eyebrow at that remark.
Holly says, "I mean getting out of the colony. ;)"
Phil ahs and gets his mind out of the gutter.
Holly says, "If you feel up to it, that is."
Phil perks up... then realizes that she's still talking about getting out of the colony.
Holly says, "I think I'm ready to get going, if you are. ;)"
Phil says, "I dunno... I'm thinking we keep this tunnel the way it is, and we just try and make
another tunnel from in here to go out... hide it well. That way if anybody finds the tunnel from
Basil's room to here, they'll just think I wanted to be able to visit you... they won't know about
the other tunnel in here."
Phil points to his bed. "Maybe make the tunnel under the bed or something."
Holly says, "Oh, that is a wonderful Idea." Holly grins deeply. It would seem that Holly has
picked the perfect ant for the job. "Then no one will suspect a thing! Phil you are such a smart,
guy!" She tells him sincerely."
Phil grins at the compliment. "Well, I HAVE been working with a demented genius for a while. I
guess it's just starting to rub off on me."
Holly says, "Oh, let's hope not too demented." She snickers at the comment, and then considers
his suggestion of where to place the next tunnel. "Well, that would work fine. I'll help you
move your bed if you need some assistance.""
"No... there's no hoping. He really is that demented. But he's easily amused. And when you
amuse him, he likes you. Otherwise he would have probably sold me to the slave plantation the
first chance he got. And I think he'll like you."
Holly can't really say she's fond of the idea of entertaining a grasshopper, but whatever it takes to
get out, she'll humor Phil. "What plantation are you talking about?" She asks with a curious
expression on her face. "I only know how ants are sold into slavery, not afterward." She shutters
at the thought, though.
Phil looks down. "Not a pretty place. Locus bailed me out when I got captured, I wasn't there for
long." He rubs his head, feeling a bruise that's still there, "They got me good... it's some kind of
strawberry plantation... stupid me, I went with them to see if I could buy any for myself. Next
thing I know, *POW*... I'm out like a light."
Phil looks over at her, "When we get to the city, remind me to get SOME kind of weapon or
something... it can be dangerous if you're not careful."
Holly winces when Phil tells her about being bonked on the head. "We're you there long, did you
see anyone familiar?" The questions come at a pretty rapid pace. "I'm just wondering if I Basil
was there or not. I'd hate to..." she trails off, laughing at her silly concern. "Okay, if we do go
to the city, I will need your protection." She offers.
Phil grins wryly and shakes his head. "I don't remember... I wasn't there long... and when I was
awake, I had one heckuva headache."
Holly ouches, and gives a sympathetic smile. "Well, I'm glad you were able to get away." She
can't help but wonder something else. "Does the guy you work for treat you fairly well?"
Phil says, "Oh, yeah. He's crazy. He'll kill, maim, destroy and torture pretty much anything... but
if you're close enough to him, you're safe. And as long as you're with me, he won't hurt you... or
sell you into slavery or anything like that."
Phil shakes his head, "And he's got a weird sense of humor... if he ever WAS going to betray me
or you, he'd let us know ahead of time. He's weird.
Holly says, "I sure hope not. I've gone to alot of trouble, and sacraficed too much to be caught
and sold into slavery. If that were to happen I'd just assume stay here. Imprissonment in an ant
colony is better than capture and forced labor." Holly then giggles at Phil's comment about
being pre-warned for betrayal. "Really, that is funny." She snickers a little."
Phil says, "Yeah... well, so's he. Just make sure you laugh with him, not at him."
Holly Okays. "So, are ya ready to start tunneling again?
Phil nods, "Yah. If we're gonna talk, we should probably try and dig at the same time.", and he
pulls the bed back enough to start shoveling with his hands.
Holly begins to assist Phil in digging, and setting the dirt aside so they can make some progress.
She gives an occasional glance as Phil, and whistles a little as she sets to work.
Phil manages to act as 'professional' as possible... not staring at Holly... but not ignoring her
either... just working alongside her.

Phil's bed
Holly continues her same pace and speed of work. She has become rather dried out as far as
conversation is concerned, just whistling a little louder, concentrating as she goes.
Phil heaves aside a small pebble, and finds that there's a hollow spot, enough for the two of them
to jump into and keep digging without any chance of being seen. "Let's jump in.", he says, "Pull
the bed over us so no one can see us. Lemme grab a mushroom real quick, so we can see what
we're doing."
Holly Nods, and watches Phil gram a luminous mushroom as a source of light so they can dig.
She then climbs in and awaits for Phil to help her move his bed over the opening to hide their
workmanship.
Phil says, "Okay, on the count of three, pull."
Phil says, "One... two... three..."
Phil tugs at the bed, and disapears behind it.
Phil has left.

Phil sets down the glowing mushroom.
Holly takes a short breather before continuing digging. "Uh, Phil, I'd like to thank you for
putting your neck out on the line for me here." She gives a warm smile, and feels much more
confidence in getting herself out of a difficult situation "Maybe going with you to the city is a
good idea after all. I'd rather not have anyone here find me, if they discover this tunnel.
Phil smiles at her. "You're worth it. Believe me. Besides, I go to the city all the time... this little
tunnel might help me get there without anyone seeing me leave the island. Something I should
have built a long time ago... I was just too lazy."
Holly nods and after a couple more moments of rest ,begins to dig again. She puts more effort
into her digging, hoping to make some progress, perhapse even finding an exit some time in the
next couple of days if they are lucky. "How far do you think it will be till we reach the outer
area"
Phil says, "Well... it depends on how close to the anthill we're willing to come out. We could
come out close by the end of the day. But if we want to go all the way to the riverbed, a couple
days at least."
Holly says, "Which would you suggest? Would it be better if we came out of the tunnel sooner,
or go farther from the anthill." She continues digging."
Phil shrugs. "Well, if we come out at night close to the anthill, we should be safe... we just
wanna cover up our exit, that's all.
Holly Huhs, and decides to give this a little thought. She soon comes to a rather hard object,
causing her fingers to make a thunking sound. She stops for a moment, and clears dirt from
around the object. "Oh, it looks like we've come across a pretty big rock." She harrumps and
waits to see what Phil has in mind.
Holly grabs onto the edge with him and pull. "On the count of three..."
Holly grabs a hold of the rock, and upon three pulls with all of her strength...
Phil erks... pulls.... hyperventilates... pulls some more...
Holly finds that the rock is just too big to move. "I guess we're gonna need to dig around it."
She gasps for a second to catch her breath. "I just hope it isnt too big, you know how rocks can
be."
Holly wipes some sweat off of her brow, and lets herself catch her breath. "So, I guess going
under wouldn't be the best idea. Shall we try to the right?
Phil nods. "Sure. Can't go wrong with right."
Holly nods too and begins to work through the dirt, working it away from the rock. After a few
minutes, she finds that the progress is slow, and not making it's way forward as quickly as they
had hoped. "I think this is going to set us back a little more than we predicted."
Phil grumbles in the general direction of the rock, then sneezes. "Ack. Dust."
Holly Smiles ruefully, and decides to let Phil take a crack at digging for a while. "I'd say so."
Holly watches, getting her breath back and watching Phil work. "I'll be along in a moment to
give you a hand.
Phil nods and smiles at her. "s'okay... when you start, I'll probably take a breather."
Holly takes a few moments and then commences in digging in the same area as before, making
little progress, but at least it is progress.
Phil digs away... then suddenly finds his hand meeting Holly's as they both dig together. He
stops digging for a moment and looks straight into her face and smiles at her... a moment later he
shakes his head and gets back to work.
Holly Feel's Phil's hand and stops as well, giving him a slightly startled expression, but smiles
softly, and continues to work as well. Soon enough, she reaches the edge of the rock, and is
finally able to work again in the same direction as before. "I think we've reached the end of this
thing" She calls out triumphantly.
Phil says, "Good riddance.", and keeps digging around it. "I think once we get far enough away
from the colony we can start digging up... maybe come out in the clover field or something.
Should be safe there."
Holly nods to the affirmative. "Yeah, hopefully we wont' have to many more rocks like that
one!" She thumb points toward the rock they've just circumnavigated. "The clover forest sounds
good enough to me." She nods and continues the digging project.
"
Phil sits down to rest for a moment. "This is hard work... I'm not used to hard work."
Holly continues to dig for a little more, but looks back at Phil and nods her head enthusiastically.
"Yeah, it's a little harder by hand, isn't it." she pauses to wipe another bead of sweat off of her
right eye ridge. "Too bad we can't use any tools in doing so."
Phil shakes his head, "We could... if we knew where to get any. I dunno... does anybody around
here use anything else to dig with? Flik's got a big mouth, I'm afraid to ask him from one of his
inventions..."
"Yeah, the last person we need to bother is Flik." She rolls her eyes deeply. "It's almost too bad
I didn't get rid of him instead of Basil."
Holly nods. "Yeah, the last person we need to bother is Flik." She rolls her eyes deeply. "It's
almost too bad I didn't get rid of him instead of Basil."
Phil raises an eye-ridge. "Nah, Flik's not so bad... he's just a little spacey."
Holly says, "Well, I find him kina irritating." She folds her hands across her chest and frowns.
"You have no idea much trouble Basil was to get out of here." She rolls her eyes again. "Much
smarter than the average ant, let me tell you."
Phil laughs. "The 'average ant' is plenty smart... they've just been trained since birth not to
think."
Phil puts his hand on Holly's shoulder and smiles at her. "Us thinkers gotta stick together."
Holly giggles. "Then I wonder what happened to him." She gives a little grunt inwardly, but
smiles softly."
Phil manages to take his hand off of her shoulder and keep digging... but it takes some effort.
Locus is a vicious gangster. "I wouldn't participate in some false advertising like that!"
Holly Smiles, but feels this is taking longer than she would like it to. "Thanks Phil, but I'm
getting a little sick of this tunnel, let's say we stick to the work, and get done the sooner the
better." She then pauses hoping not to have hurt his feelings. "But I do appreciate your kindness
to me."
Phil smiles at her, to let her know they're no hard feelings. "Yeah... less talking, more working...
good idea."
Holly nods her head, and continues digging, hopeful they will be done before too long, since this
is getting a little monotonous.
Holly smiles, and digs more. She can't hardly wait to get to the clover forest so they can get out
of the colony as soon as possible.
Phil nods, "I think we're far enough out that we can start digging up at a slant... there shouldn't be
anything in the way."
Holly nods and does as suggested by Phil. Before long she finds the dirt become less and less
tightly packed, hoping this to be a sign that they are near the surface.
Phil starts to say, "We won't see light at the end of the tunnel... it should be dark outside...",
when suddenly a good portion of dirt crumbles from above. He is partially buried, but the dirt is
loose, and he crawls out unharmed. "Yeah, we must be close to the surface."
Holly lets out a slight gasp, but is relieved as Phil is able to climb out of the fallend dirt. She
then makes her way up to the end of the tunnel, and digs more enthusiastically, hoping to punch
through the surface at any moment.
Phil sticks his hand in the dirt... to feel cool air against his fingertips. "I think I've found a hole
to the surface...", he says, as he digs away. A dark green can be seen right above the hole... a bent
or broken blade of grass or clover above the hole. "We're out!"
Holly can hardly contain her excitement as she pokes her had out of the ground as well. "Oh,
finally, it sure does feel good to have fresh air at your face again.
translucent leaves. The harvest area lies not far to the south of here and more forest stretches on
to the east.
Holly finds herself pulled out of the falling dirt, and falls to the side of Phil. She gasps
loudly, and feels her head spinning as well. "The sooner the better' She groans, but then lets out
a giggle as well.
Phil turns his head towards her. "Okay... I got you out. Stop spinning for a second... ooh... you're
making me dizzy..."... he shakes his head, and it clears a bit. "Where to now?"
Holly well, I'd say we'd best be out of here the sooner the better, unless you think it would be
better to go hide off from the island until it's safe to travel by daylight.
Phil nods. "As soon as I can get up we can start heading towards But City... I've gone that way in
the dark before. The path is fairly well marked... at least, once we get off the island, that is."
Phil sits up... "Whee... Mommy, I want to get off the roller coaster..."
Phil says, "This is a good hiding spot... it's near the road, but not on it, so nobody will find us if
we rest here."
Holly says, "Okay, and thanks again for getting me out of there. I owe ya big time." She walks
up to Phil and gives him a soft peck on the cheek."
Phil turns beet red for a moment. "Wow..." he says softly... then he manages to regain his
composure. "We can rest here for now. Take the road to Bug City in daylight, if that's where you
want to go."
Phil's hand goes to his cheek... he'll probably never wash his face again...
Holly nods to the affirmative. "Might as well, at this point." And grabs a leaf for a blanket and
lays down to rest.
Phil grabs his own leaf, and lays down near her... but he isn't quite brave enough to lay down
NEXT to her...
Holly quickly falls asleep.
Phil whispers, "That's one thing I like about traveling all the time.. you get to sleep somewhere
that's not in a tunnel... it's not in a building..."... he looks over and sees that Holly's eyes are
closed, and he closes his and tries to sleep. Sleep takes a while to come... he's still thinking of
that little peck on the cheek...
