An Attempt at Liberation: Part I

Date: August 3, 2001

Players: Holly, Phil

Scene: Holly has befriended Phil in attempts to escape her punishment and chamber arrest.

Note: Since Holly is my puppet, she doesn't actually live with me, but stays in my chamber when she is alseep.

Basil's Chamber(#1595RL) Upon entering this residency, one might notice how clean and organized it is. Consisting of a couch and chair made of twigs and leaves for guests to make them feel at home, along with a couple of pictures on the walls and carved out areas used as shelves to hold various personal items.

Other places: (B)asil's Bedroom , (O)ut to the tunnel ...

(Phil has made the suggestion for creating a tunnel to escape from the colony)

Holly smiles sweetly. "Oh, that would be perfect!" Let's do that. ;)

Holly
Holly is a young slender ant with the shade of a medium blue tint. Eyes of a deep green, having almost a forest tint to them. A couple of freckles dot her hands and and about five or six on her facial area. She is a rather slender and attractive ant, aged in her mid to late 20's, and has an alluring yet very down to earth type of personality. She is easy to get along with, and always shows interest in the welfare of others, but occasionally one might notice something just a little peculiar about her if they watched her close enough. Can't always be too sure.

"If everybody knows that I like you, it won't seem weird if I give you a picture as a present... or come here to draw a picture of you."

Phil
A young ant with dark blue/purple skin. He is no more than 16 or so, with young eyes and a sarcastic expression. The other ants usually think of him as strange, but he likes to call himself 'adventurous.'

Phil is often seen observing, though, rather than acting. He likes to know what's going on around him before he'll open his mouth.

He is usually wearing a headband, made of thin woven roots. He also has a backpack, but he usually leaves that in his room, and stores things in there.

Holly says, "No, that would be perfect. I drew a picture of Basil's last home, so it would work out fine.

Phil says, "Well then, I guess we'll just have to do some digging."

Phil says, "The other ants think I'm lazy... they won't notice if I'm not working around the ant hill."

Holly nods. "Shall we proceed? Or do you need to draw some more. ?

Phil says, "Just show me where you want to build the tunnel from. We'll start there."

Holly says, "After you..."

Phil has left.

Basil's Bedroom(#972R) This room, as apposed to the main room, on the other hand can be quite a different matter. While not too terribly cluttered all of the time, it does get cleaned up on a fairly regular basis. It contains a bed, chair and a couple more prints on the wall, and more shelves for holding personal objects, which are usual in their intended place. This chamber is essentially like it's owner. Tends to keep the less appealing attributes away from the site of others, since he doesn't often have guests in his bedroom.

Other places: (M)ysterious Room , (B)asil's Chamber ...

Holly points to the far wall. "How about that one over there, next to my bed?"

Phil says, "The wall looks good."

Holly nods. "Then let's begin. I'm getting chamber fever. ;)

Phil says, "You know what... if you wanna dig really fast... maybe... no. Bad idea. Don't wanna get the crazy inventor involved in this. He's too goody-goody. I was thinking we could ask if Flik had any labor-saving digging inventions, but I don't wanna draw attention to us right now."

Phil says, "Okay, now we gotta get a poster big enough to cover the hole..."

Holly says, "Ya' about done with that picture you were drawing?"

Phil pulls out the biggest sheet he can find from his notebook. "Lemme just do some quick sketching... make it look like I've been working on it..."

Holly waits, watches patiently.

Phil looks up at her and smiles. "Wow, you're pretty right now. Hold still... lemme make sure I get your face right on here."

Phil finishes the rough sketch. "Okay, good enough for now. Now let's find the softest spot in the wall to put this thing over."

Holly smiles sweetly. "Looks great." She compliments, sincerely she might add."

Holly begins feeling for soft spots in the soil. "How does this one feel to you?"

Phil puts his hand on hers. "Feels nice... oh, the wall. Yeah. It feels pretty soft... lemme put the poster up there."

Phil fastens the poster to the wall as best he can, leaving the bottom loose enough to pull up and dig underneath. "All right. Time to start digging."

Holly watches Phil place the poster on the wall. "that'll do fine. You know the colony better than I do, would you like the honors?"

Phil replies, "Certainly.", and scoops out the first handful of dirt. "Wait a minute, lemme get my backpack so we can dump the dirt in there."

Holly nods. "Good idea." ;)

Phil says, "It's in my room. Be right back."

Phil has left.

Phil has arrived.

Phil drops Phil's backpack.

Phil dumps the handful of dirt into the backpack.

Phil keeps digging and dumping. "This could take a little while."

Holly waits, with a broad smile on her face. 'Oh, I think this is going to work!' "No hurry." She smiles to prod him on.

Phil smiles back and works a little faster, digging and dumping... digging and dumping.

Holly places a hand sofly on Phil's shoulder, but only long enough so as not to be too much of a distraction.

Phil grins at her and keeps working.

Phil takes a quick breather. "I haven't done this sort of thing in a while... I didn't realize I could get out of shape. Oh well. I'll manage.", and continues digging and dumping.

Holly says, "If you need to take a break, I can take a whack at it, if you would like." She offers her services sincerely."

Phil says, "Okay. I'll take the poster down and work on it for a minute, then." Then he grins at her, "But not too long. I'm not gonna make a lady do all the work."

Holly Heys! "I maybe be a lady, but I'm tough. How do you think I escaped the slavers in the first place." She gives Phil a mock stern look, then passes a genuine smile in his direction.

Phil smiles back, but then turns back to his sketch.

Phil drops Poster.

"Okay, I think we dug enough to open it up a little." Phil puts the poster back up.

Holly nods.

Phil pulls on the poster, then crawls under it, disapearing from sight.

Phil has left

This is a sketch of Holly. She appears to have a thoughtful, yet uncharactaristically tender expression on her face. Phil's signature can be seen on the corner, along with a smudge of dirt. It is only fastened to the wall at the top, and the bottom edge looks like it could be 'pull'ed up...

You pull on the poster... to reveal a secret tunnel!

Secret Tunnel

Other places: ...

Players: [IOC]Phil,

Phil says, "Hey there cutie. Looks like we're alone now.

Holly Grimaces at the young teenaged ants gesture, of him calling her cutie or something like that, but feels genuine gratitude for his efforts. "Nice going, Phil." She offers her encouragement.

Phil puffs out his chest. "I do my best."

Holly says, "So, where do we go from here?"

Phil says, "Well, depends... do you wanna go up, or straight? It's more work to go straight, but less chance of getting caught, since we'll end up coming out of the side of Ant Island. On the other hand, if we go up, it's a short trip... but there's a chance somebody will stumble across the hole."

Holly passes a thoughtful glance, but quickly decides that the risk of getting caught is more than enough to get her to do the extra work. "I'd say to go straight. If either of us get caught, then we'd both be in for it." She offers sincerely.

Phil says, "Dang. I was afraid you'd say that. Well, it's worth the extra work. You're right. I'm just lazy, I guess. :)"

Holly places a hand on Phil's shoulder for encouragement. "Nah, I think you were just trying to help." She nods a couple of times. "But I'll help when you get winded. I need the fresh air, and open spaces, or I think I will go nuts!"

Phil puts his hand on hers and smiles at her. "Yeah... I have to watch the misunderstood villain go nuts daily... it's not a pretty picture."

Holly says, "Not from what I've heard anyway. So, would you like for me to begin digging? I'll start over here if you feel that would be best." She offers in her usual albiety falsified sincerety."

Phil says, "All right. But I'm not gonna let you dig more than me!"

Holly giggles, and begins digging. "Dont' worry, I'm not going to let you get out of your share of the work, pal." With that, she being hauling dirt out from the wall, finding the work a little more than she anticipated, but her desire to escape is more than enough motivation to continue. After a few minutes, she pauses to wipe a drop of sweat growing on the top of her left eyeridge.

Phil squeezes next to her, trying to both help, and get as close to her as possible. "Okay, I saw that sweat. My turn."

Holly stops and allows Phil to continue. "Thanks. this tunneling by hand is a little more than I anticipated.

Phil says, "I'll try to find something to help sometime... but right now let's just get as much done as possible for now."

Phil starts digging away, shoving the dirt behind him, towards the poster. Suddenly, he stops, finding a root in the way. "Dang. Gotta dig around real quick."

Holly pants, and allows Phil to continue. She then looks in his direction as he curses the root, and works harder to continue. "Let me help you then." She makes her way over to Phil and begins to dig into the dirt next to him.

Phil tries to concentrate on digging, but is getting more and more distracted by the ant next to him... finally he can't help it, and he leans over and gives her a quick peck on the cheek. Before she can response, he goes back to digging, an embarrassed blush turning his face red.

Holly is rather taken back by Phil's gesture. She feels a slight tremor of irritation, but that melts into a feeling of kind sincerety, and can't help but appreciate the gesture. She stops for a moment, looking at the redness of his face, smiles and continues to work along side of him.

Phil keeps digging mechanically, trying not to be distracted again... but with not much luck. It's all he can do not to try and kiss her again...

Holly simply keeps to work, wondering why she's letting this guy get to her. It's her freedom she's after. But then he is being so helpful. Then a wave of anger passes through her. Isn't that what go her into trouble back home again. 'Don't let your emotions get involved' she chastened herself. But deep down inside, she had to at least give him a little credit.

(At about this point Phil stops and creates a poem for Holly, I was having connection problems, and can't seem to find the log, hopefully soon.  Here is the poem.)

This is a small scrap of paper, torn from Phils notebook. On it is a poem.

The feeble light from a mushroom cap

illuminates your lovely face

I feel my heart go tap tap tap

My mind begins to race

Your face is the last I see

before I fall asleep

I dream of things that cannot be

these dreams I try to keep

I love to watch your pretty face

to hear you breath a gentle hiss

I want to take you from this place

And claim, my reward... a kiss

Holly smiles. "Thanks for the poem, Phil that was really sweet of you! ;)

Phil shrugs and looks down, "It wasn't really me that wrote it... it just came out through me... I don't know where it came from... but you were certainly the inspiration for it."

Holly places a hand to her heart. "That is most kind of you, thanks."

Phil grins sheepishly at her, and is at a loss for words.

Holly simply smiles in return. Something she hasn't done in ernest in a long time.

Phil mumbles, "We better keep digging if we wanna get you out of here anytime soon.", and turns to the dirt.

Holly stands lost in thought for a few moments, then begins to assist Phil in digging.

Phil tries to pay attention to his digging... but he can't help but notice how close Holly is to him... or how much she seems to have warmed up to him in the last few days...

Holly continues to dig. She can't help but be touched by what Phil has written. But then she decides not to get emotionally involved. That is what caused her the trouble back home, in the first place. She keeps her mind on her work.

Phil tosses a small pebble over his shoulder and stops to rest for a second. "I think I heard a hollow sound a second ago... we should try and dig quietly, in case we're close to any other tunnels."

Holly nods as she too takes a break, a look of concern shows on her face. "It would be bad if anyone found out what we were doing." She offers in a nervous expression. You say, "That would be pretty good. ;)"

Phil nods, and leans close to her ear "Okay. We'll have to be quiet, and we'll have to dig slowly until we find out what's there. Maybe make a peephole and look in or something."

Holly nods at the suggestion Phil makes. "Okay, give it a try."

Phil taps lightly on the wall, trying to find the hollow spot. He finds it, and starts to slowly pull away dirt from the area. Soon he can see through a little bit. "I can't quite tell where it is... there's some mushroomlight... I'm gonna have to widen this peephole."

Holly lets out a bit of a gasp. "Are you sure it's safe to do that?" She seems to become quite still at the development of this situation. "If I get caught... " is all she can say then nods to Phil. "Okay, give it a try."

Phil puts a hand on her shoulder, trying to sound like he knows what he's doing, "Just let me do it. If anyone sees me, I'll just say I was working a pet project of mine or something. Just stay back for now and let me pop my head in real quick." He scrabbles at the dirt for a moment, then puts his eye to the hole. "It looks like somebody's chamber... don't know whose yet... can't see enough.

Phil says, "But there doesn't seem to be anyone in there right now. That's a good start."

Phil widens the hole some more. Eventually, he has enough that he can stick his entire head through. He does, slowly. his mufled voice comes through the hole, unintelligible. He pulls his head back in and repeats himself, "Well I'll be. It's safe, don't worry. Nobody else will be coming in there."

Phil chuckles under his breath and shakes his head.

Holly becomes lost in thought, her mind going back to past events that brought her here in the first place. "Oh!" She gasps softly, then reconfirms Phil's statement. "Maybe we should keep digging onward." Then as Phil pulls his head back in, she inquires "Why do you say that?"

Phil laughs, "You don't have to talk so softly. It's my room. Nobody else there. We can stop and rest in there for a little bit."

Phil starts to widen the hole a bit more, to allow quick passage through.

Holly says "Okay, I'd like to get out of this tunnel for a few minute anyway." Holly sighs a relief motivated sigh, with the intent of following her 'liberator'
