Queen Gale II Husband: Culver (Deceased) Daughter: Anise Character History Her highness, Queen Amethyst of West River Colony comes from a significant line of royalty, and by and large a pretty traditional life. Primarily servants and other ants that were appointed to see out her growth, education, and the training of how to become a proper leader and monarch raised her. Her father, Damon, was a highly appointed counselor in charge of the harvesting and food storage and handling operations. A highly respected ant who was very dedicated to his work, and family. Often times, work did and was required to come first, for the entire colony is also like the family. Her mother Gale, or Queen Gale II was typically very busy with running the colony, but Amethyst managed to look out for herself, as she was rather mature for her age. Royal training began when she was about twelve, but accompanied her mom to countless (often times boring) meetings, getting used to how the colony was run. Amethyst was well on her way to running the colony when she reached her late teens, and the importance of continuing on the royal bloodlines became a high priority. Luckily it was actual love, not just a marriage of convenience, and soon she and an ant named Culver who was the distant relative of a great noble ant in the colonies history were married and they had their daughter Anise a short time later. Culver was also the unfortunate victim of a terrible accident involving grain storage a few months before Anise turned two. There was no question that Queen Amethyst did love her daughter, but she had a difficult time relating to her. It wasn't anything personal, just that... well her daughter was a kid, and she just didn't understand kids. Oh, she made efforts to spend a few moments time with and be part of the things that the colonies kids did... like little plays, and days of appreciation for the Queen, which happened to co-inside with her majesty's birthday. But she had difficulty in showing her feelings with her daughter. 'Sweetpea', her pet aphid, well, one of at least a handful she had as a pet, she felt more attached to, and less obligated. Or maybe it was just that aphids were a lot less personally demanding of both in time as well as emotionally. At any rate, she didn't have any really significant time to spend with Anise, and since aphids can be a lot more cuddly then kids, even approaching their teens, Sweetpea got more attention. But then she felt that Anise needed to focus her time and efforts on how to be a proper Queen. Amethyst was aware of the two friends her daughter had, as she felt it was a good idea to get to know the young ants who her daughter spent time with. Amber and Shamrock. Amber she became quite fond of, particularly as Miss Whitecloud became older and into adulthood, but Shamrock... oh, she was far from as fond of him. He was not exactly 'fit for royalty' as she explained to Anise on several occasions. But, as Anise persisted, and she saw that the relationship between these two was more than infatuation or a silly crush, she reluctantly allowed them to be married. Any real lasting concerns regarding Shamrock's influence on Anise was short lived, as a situation that Shamrock got into regarding some gang of bugs... or were the bandits? Or hit bugs? She never found out how her son-in-law died, and desired to offer her condolences to her daughter, remembering her loss of her husband, but saw that Anise had grown to the point that she had the discipline to put her personal feelings aside for the good of the colony. While she's no longer a young adult, she still has quite a bit of energy, passion for what she does, and feels that she herself has managed to mellow out with age. She still gets little time to do personal things, but is looking toward the day that her daughter will be able to take full control of the colony. But at her current rate, that might not be until after she's gone.
