Description:

This particular female ant is known as Amber. She's a slightly below average height ant but that doesn't keep her from keeping a good deal of spunk. This dusty blue tinted individual, with grey-green eyes, and a generally slender figure is particularly outgoing, with a very clear mind, and a good sense of whit about her. She at times won't hesitate to express to you her feelings, but mainly has enough tack to make sure she won't needlessly offend. She's a well rounded ant, with a good deal of personality, which most find amicable, once she gets to know you.

In-character History

Amber Whitecloud was quite the energetic and curios little ant when she was young. Always getting into stuff, always looking at things and wondering how they were made or worked. This however had a way of getting her into trouble a now and then. Once at the age of three she decided to see if she could swim across West River. Good thing her mom was nearby. It's not that her mom wasn't watching what young Amber was doing, but she simply didn't expect her daughter to wade in beyond her ankles, as she'd stayed that way obediently so many times before. Okay, so up to her thorax wasn't a serious deal, but was a reason of concern.

Then there was the time at the age of seven she wanted to go climb the tallest clover in the area. In fact, she was so far up, that every ant in the area involved in the annual trail cleanup could hear her scream at the top of her lungs. Including her dad. Poor gal was so terrified once she reached the top, that it took many weeks before she had the nerve to even touch a clover after that.

Amber may have been the adventurous type around the colony, but was mostly a homebody. Well, just like most from her colony, but a bit more to the extreme. When she was part of the 'Clover Scouts' (Parents couldn't help but notice the irony) she'd be more than happy to get involved in activities around and inside the colony. But when the group would talk about night or even week long campouts she'd get either sick as such a convenient time (My tummy hurts!) Or would actually find ways to get herself punished to stay home. Rather be grounded than to leave the colony.

Eventually her parents decided to let her just stay involved in 'around the colony' based activities. This brought the attention of some of the kids, in the way of teasing and such, but Amber never really cared about that. For some reason, it never affected her. Not the way Princess Anise reacted to the same treatment from the kids.

Thus is when they became friends. Amber was 13, and Anise was 12. The princess had trouble when the kids would leave her out. Not that most wanted or ever did actually teaser her, afraid it would bring the judgment of the Queen or her counselors, but simply didn't know how to react or treat a royal ant. Some were jealous of her 'level of importance' others of her newly acquired ability to fly. But this isn't about Anise.

Amber one day found Anise sitting behind a grass blade, sobbing softly. Amber took genuine sympathy for the royal ant and befriended her. They became close friends, and kept contact even until adult hood.

Amber's other significant contact would be an ant that was her supervisor for about three years. Basil Harvestwatcher, another miss-fit ant of sorts. She noticed that Basil, or Riley, as she better knew him at that time, had a certain hidden layer of personality that she hoped he'd some day bring out, or at least show once in a while, despite his easy-to-irritate nature, somewhat 'dark cloud' attitude, he would frequently show.

So, once again, she made effort to befriend him. Most of her co-workers thought she was either nuts or looking to gain promotion for making friends with him, but once again, she didn't care what others thought. Slowly Basil would come out of his shell little by little and at one point even changed these troublesome aspects of his personality, but an ant doesn't completely change over night, or even months later.

Amber was the unintended cause of a tunnel cave in while talking to a friend in her team, and accidentally hit the center support with her shovel. A good amount of dirt and rocks came down, but the group was able to get out without receiving anything more than a few bruises and a cut here and there.

Right after the accident, she was called into Basil's work office and 'called upon the leaf' a term commonly used at West River when your superior down dresses you severely. Basil made all sorts of accusing comments then blamed her of knocking down the support intentionally to get him removed from his position.

She retaliated by telling him that this letter he'd received from the heads of the head construction counselor was his own doing because of his treatment of the other ants she worked with. She stormed out and swiftly departed for her chamber, bumping into a council member as she was wiping tears from her face. Later on she made the attempt to apologize to Basil, but by then he's already been exiled from the Colony, much to her surprise. He'd had been in trouble before, but didn't think he should have been so severely punished.

Feeling partially responsible, she decided that she'd not hold a grudge against him, in part because she knew such actions and feelings would only hurt herself, but still had feelings for Basil, that he was a good but easily frustrated ant, who still had potential to improve. Besides, it's hard to hold a grudge against someone who probably perished in the wilderness anyway, as nearly all figured happened to him.

Taking sympathy on Basil's family, she visited them to give them her condolences, and eventually became friends with his sisters, Lily and Amber. Though at first she had her suspicions that they blamed her for his departure, no proof could be brought out. Besides, it really did no good to blame her when they had suspicions that other influences were at work.

Amber's most recent events include being picked as a scout ant (Again with the irony) to go in search for a friendly colony to help find support against East River, a colony long in conflict. The ant, Centaury, was also a tunnel worker she'd first met in a nearby working construction crew, but barely had the time to know more than that about him. She's much more sure that her being picked was because of being friends with Princess Anise, probably out of convenience.
