How did I get here? That's something I've asked myself a number of times. ;) But putting all seriousness aside, it happened like this. It was early January of 2001, I was sitting in front of my computer with a serious case of 'A whole lot of nothing to do' syndrome. So I went down my list of Internet web browser book marks one by one. One such site I came to was originally found from a web search I did for the movie "A Bug's Life' I'd made a couple of months or so before. It was called "Daisy's Anthill." Now the main reason I book marked this site was because of a what is called a fan fiction. This story is titled The Winter Crisis." It touched me pretty deeply, and I've read it several times since. I can't say you'll have the same experience reading it as I did, I only know how I felt when I did. While reading Daisy's fan fic, I felt I could easily feel for what the members of the colony who had to survive the winter on their own. Understanding their feelings of fear, homesickness, and the pain and suffering they went through. Then the fear that Flik felt over Atta's health and well being, and my feelings of genuine concern for her survival over the ordeal. Along with "Winter Crisis, I also found the stories "The Healing Plant" and "Invasion" (Not currently available. :/) in Flik's chamber extremely well written.. I would like to thank Daisy, for creating 'The Winter Crisis', and Anne Daily and Sarah Curtis for 'Invasion' and 'The Healing Plant'. I owe ya one! n.n While looking through Daisy's page, I found a link to another site I hadn't seen before, called 'Willow's Page of Bugginess' I spent the next couple of hours reading the various writings, and then some of the RP logs listed. I enjoyed them immensely. I also realy enjoyed the various top ten lists and other submissions that were on the site, a few of which now have been placed by me. I became so involved in the refugee series emotionally, that when the logs seemed to stop for a time, I began to worry that the story wouldn't continue. Then I found out that the Muck theme might change, and decided that if I could help and contribute, then I should. I really wanted to see Tilly, Shine and Willow get out of the Bug City, and away from further harm. Funny. I was the first ant one of the refugees met on Ant Island. Then to follow by my own dramatic and at times humorous adventure. I also enjoyed the 'search for Yvonne' series as well. I'd like to make a special thanks to Willow, for not only creating a really great web site, but for being so helpful in getting me here. Thanks Willow! I should also mention Tilly in all of this. I made a top ten saying that' "Dave Foley was all that (snaps fingers) and a bag of chips! She thanked me on the ABL forum, and upon telling her thanks and I liked Newsradio, she gave me a hug. Never though I'd be hugged by a Bug's Life ant. n.n Tilly as well as Willow have been helpful in getting me on the muck, so you can blame them both! Hee, hee! Of course it was only after I joined that I found out how crazy these people are, and by then it was too late for me! n.n! But, I would like to thank every one on the muck for being so helpful, and just being as crazy and wierd as they are. I owe all of you big time. "Now I'll bet they all come to me asking for a loan or something." Basil mutters to himself as he rubs the back of his head again. O.O |
