Hello, And thank you for coming by. This Page is dedicated to NYPD Police Officers who have been killed in the Line of duty. Each month I will feature a different Police Officer who gave his life in the performance of duty. As of this writing their have been 567 NYPD officers killed in the line of duty(More than any other department in the nation) And every year the list grows larger. This is a place were we will honor them, their memory,there families,and the nearly 40 thousand Men and Women of the NYPD, Who as you read this are bravely performing there duty to protect us all.

On October 8th 1993, P.O. John Williamson Of the then New York City Housing Police Department P.S.A. #6 (Now Merged with the NYPD) was on Patrol in the 34th Precinct in Washington Heights. When Officers from the 34th Precinct, Working with the Traffic Department on a Traffic Enforcement Operation, Were attacked by several area residents. P.O. Williamson responded to this call for assistance in which he assisted 34th Precinct Officers make several arrest.P.O. Williamson was about to leave and was walking to his patrol car when a 22 year old male Threw a 30 pound bucket of Spackling compound from the roof of a six story building at 501 West 175 Street. The bucket struck P.O. Williamson on the head, He was rushed to Columbia Presbertrian Hospital, Were after a gallant fight, Died an hour later.
A Huge manhunt was Immediately set in motion to find the person responsible for P.O. Williamson's Death, NYPD and Housing Detectives soon had the Persons name and tracked him down in the Dominican Republic, Were he had fled only a day after the incident. He was extradited to the USA and was Charged in P.O. Williamson's Death. After a Emotional trail he was Acquitted of Murder Charges but found guilty of Manslaughter. He was sentenced to 5-15 years in prison.
P.O. John Williamson was 25 years old when he was killed, And although he was only a Police Officer for for 4 years, He had already Gained a reputation as a Honest quick thinking Cop, Who was always the first to respond when needed. He was born and raised in the Jackson Heights section of Queens, And still lived in the same building until his death. John Loved his Neighborhood and Participated in The Boy Scouts, Were he was a Boy Scout leader, As well as other Church Activities. John graduated from Archbishop Molloy High School in Jackson Heights.
P.O. John Williamson is Survived by his parents- John and Katherine, A Brother Paul, and Sister Nancy, Who is married to a New York City Police Officer. John was engaged to be married to Miss Elizabeth Downey at the time of his death.
