Ancient Wisdom has long known of an unseen
energy that flows through and gives life to all living things. Reiki is an ancient healing art that strengthens and balances
that vital "life force energy" to improve health on all levels of being: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. The gentle
healing touch of Reiki gives the recipient a feeling of peace and well-being. Anyone can learn the simple yet powerful techniques
to heal self and others.
The word Reiki is formed from two Japanese kanji: Rei and Ki. In the Japanese language, both
words have several meanings. The definition I like best is "spiritually-guided life force energy". Reiki is a lineage-based
healing tradition that is passed from teacher to student. Since Reiki was brought to the United States from Japan, many branches
have grown on the family tree, each with its own unique characteristics. Most lineages follow the original tradition closely,
while others have added additional techniques. I have studied with several teachers and now teach Usui Reiki Ryoho, using
the same techniques discovered and taught by Mikao Usui, the founder of Reiki. |

The ability to access and use Reiki is
transmitted from teacher to student through oral tradition, teachings and initiations that open the student to receive and
direct the flow of universal energy.
Usui Reiki Ryoho is taught in three levels: Shoden, Okuden and Shinpiden.
Shoden
(beginning level) focuses primarily on self-healing methods.
Okuden (highest level) introduces the student to three
of the four sacred symbols.
Shinpiden (teacher level) empowers the student with the fourth symbol and teaches how to
initiate others to the Reiki practice.
The term "Master" is not used in the Japanese tradition...that is a western
concept. One cannot become a "Master" of Reiki simply by taking a class and receiving a certificate. True mastership takes
dedication and a lifetime of practice. |
|
| The decision to study and practice Reiki should
be given serious consideration. Choose a teacher that you feel comfortable with. The teacher-student relationship continues
beyond the classroom. A teacher who is dedicated to Reiki will always support her students on their individual paths.
