Who is this jerk, and why does he think he can write?

First of all, allow me to write in third person. This is not intended to be another site like Ain't It Cool News where every tenth word is "I." To put it simply, this site isn't about me. It's about the subjects of these little essays.

Thomas E. Reed is a television engineer in Orlando, Florida. He is also Publicatons Director for SunQuest Partners, Inc., a group of friends who run fantasy gaming conventions. He has been fascinated throughout his life by animation, cartoons and adventure fiction. This has led him to write for web sites like Animation Nerd's Paradise and Animation Blast!, and for magazines like TOON Magazine.

He believes that animation is like every other popular art; it says something about what and who we are as a people. And the more people say it's "pointless" or "has no significance," the more it really means. Animation isn't a world unto itself, and it isn't a place to hide away from reality. It always refers to The World Outside. He believes by exploring these ideas, and by including comments by other people (referred to as "Hate Mail") we can all learn something about ourselves.

While he doesn't have any special insider status in the movie industry, and he doesn't sneak into screenings like the aforementioned AICN people, he has studied movies and popular culture all his life. He also knows how to put a sentence or two together, he knows punctuation, and he often takes himself with a few tons of salt. He also aspires to real journalism, not "TV News Journalism," and tries to find out the facts before he prints them as truth. Will he make it? Only time will tell..

So, what will I find on this site?

Only my commentary and your reactions to it. There are no news sections, since there are lots of those on the Internet (check my links for some of them), no pictures or clips outside of article illustrations (let other fan sites be sued; the pictures here are "fair use" for criticism) and nothing illegal to my knowledge.

This is intended to be the kind of site where works of popular culture, not egotism or boot-licking, are the focus. Everything in popular culture means something. The more people claim "it doesn't mean anything," the more it probably means. Let's explore what this stuff means to our lives, our country and our world together.

namologo.gifFor the techies among you, this site was composed and is being maintained by Namo WebEditor 4. It's one of the neatest, simplest web editors available. And it is NOT made by Evil Empire Number Three (Microsoft); the more money we keep out of Bill Gates's pocket, the freer and more beautiful America will be. If you're interested, click here to see the information on Namo's web site.
