Internationally recognized poets to share insights at 2006 Orlando Writers Conference

Orlando — Poets Lola Haskins and Ilyse Kusnetz will be among the talented writers sharing their knowledge and love of their craft with an expected 100+ attendees at the second annual Orlando Writers Conference on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Maitland Arts Center.

Haskins, widely published in both the US and England, will deliver the morning keynote address at the conference. She is the recipient of several poetry awards, including two NEA’s and four Florida State Literature Fellowships. Kusnetz, a workshop presenter at the conference, received her Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh. Her poetry has been featured in many publications and broadcast on NPR and BBC Radio Scotland. She currently teaches at Valencia Community College.

The one-day conference will also feature an afternoon keynote address by popular Florida mystery novelist Tim Dorsey, and a workshop by agent Kate McKean of Dystel and Goderich Literary Management in New York who will also be available, by appointment, to hear pitches from authors. Children’s author Diana Scimone, writing coach Mary Ann de Stefano, and developmental editor Camille Cline, will present workshops on their areas of expertise, as will highly successful freelance writer Marcia Rankin, book publisher Robert Gelinas, and Suzy Spraker, a creative writing teacher at UCF whose short stories have appeared in numerous literary magazines.

The Florida Writers Association (FWA) is sponsoring the conference, which will be held from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM.  The cost is $39.00 for FWA members and $59.00 for non-members.  Ten-minute agent/writer interviews are available for $20.00.  Register online at www.FloridaWriters.net/OrlandoConference.html (case sensitive).
