Tinsel Wrist Bands

This brilliant idea comes to you from Opal Sinclair out of Ohio, who received the idea from God. These tinsel wrist bands were a great hit with the Gypsy children.

Tinsel can be purchased at discount prices AFTER Christmas. For those of you who make Glory Hoops, this is an excellent way to use up all your leftover bits of tinsel.

Elastic hair bands can be purchased from "dollar stores" like the Dollar Tree, 100 bands for $1.00. You can choose from pastel or dark bands (pastel bands shown below).

Here are the directions on how to make them.

1) Cut out a strip of two inch wide colorful fabric (anything that won't fray). You can also use 1 1/2 - 2 inch wide, wired ribbon (available on 100 foot rolls from Sam's, Costco or craft stores).
2) Cut the 2" fabric (or ribbon) into 5" strips.
3) Fold the 5" strip across an elastic hair band.
4) Cut a 3-4 inch strip of Christmas tree tinsel and fold it in on itself to fit within the piece of fabric.
5) If desired, cut a single length (same length as the tinsel) of any type of ribbon and put it in the center of the tinsel.
6) Match up the ends of the fabric (be sure one end is threaded through the elastic band) and sew across it.

Voila! The wrist band is complete!
