The
Times & Seasons Quilt
After
hundreds of hours' effort over several months, Rhoda completed this very complex
and intricate quilt on December 29, 2007. Covered bridges, windmills, farms and churches intertwine against an
appliquéd and ribbon-embroidered countryside depicting the beauty of nature and
diversity of humankind.
The 'Times
& Seasons Quilt' honors the strength, determination, and
superb workmanship of our ancestors, in the two
small railway trains representing a momentous event in American history:
Approaching from the West on Row 1 the Central Pacific's 'Jupiter'
and from the East on Row 2 the Union Pacific's 'No.119' meet on May
10, 1869, at Promontory Point, Utah, where the ceremonial driving of the Golden
Spike marks completion of the Transcontinental Railroad.
