Another amusing e-mail from the same author (apparently). . .

subject line: "thin is in the eye of the stein holder"

I read Bonnie’s latest diary entry with some interest. Her observation that all German women were “amazingly thin” struck me as odd as I always had the impression they were rather robust and healthy in the mass department. As I reviewed the photos on your sight I was struck by a particular image of Bonnie hoisting a rather large stein of what I assume is spirits. Given the size of that beer glass it just may be that Bonnie’s perspective has suffered and her assessment of objects in her visual space may very well have been distorted by the shear size of that stein. I suggest she adopt a vessel more suitable to fine champagne and perhaps her perspective will prove more to be more accurate and self-satisfactory. Just a thought…At any rate, I appreciate your posting my last email with anonymity as I can’t recall writing it all! I must have been a touch tipsy myself as I composed the damn thing. No harm done. May I still participate in the contest to guess the author?

An e-mail recieved on September 9. Should we worry?

Dear Bonnie and Bill,

Hope your adventures are progressing well.

I just thought you should be aware that Larry and Melody have been conducting unusual activities at your home in Minneapolis since you have been abroad. As you may be aware, things haven’t been going so well over here for Mr. Kerry and since desperate times call for desperate measures… well let’s just say that this is a time of extraordinary circumstance. In a selfless and bold showing of support for the democratic cause, the Chestlers, while occupying your home here, have offered any willing taker the opportunity to throw a series of fund raiser events which can only be described as, well let’s just say, on the fringe. As you know, many of the LEFT have certain “idiosyncrasies”, endearing as they may be, that do tend to elevate their profile amongst the rank and file. Please understand that none of this has caught the keen eye of our local press to date so there is still time for intervention. My missive merely intends to serve as a “heads up” that you may want to consider some local intervention should things turn southerly in light of Mr. Ashcroft’s zealous scrutiny of activities related to such endeavors. I know Larry and Melody to be conscientious and at times, even law abiding. I would even go so far as to say they are prudent, at times. Please do not let my update color your thoughts as you enjoy your exciting and carefree experience in a foreign land. I only intend to bring the peace of mind that someone is watching your affairs here in the states on an occasional basis.
