Visual Development Of Toddlers

Toddler Vision Development
One To Two Years
...    ...

At the age of one to two years, your child's eye-hand coordination and depth perception should become well developed. The child should begin to understand more abstract terms and be capable of pointing to objects or people using words such as "look" or "see". Both hands should now be visually guided with increased accuracy. The child should be visually interested in simple pictures and objects and trying to identify them.

Several things that can be done at home to help your toddler continue to successfully develop their visual skills and coordination include:

- Allow your child the freedom to crawl and explore.
- Encourage walking and climbing activities both indoors and out.
- Provide toys such as building blocks, simple puzzles, and balls.
- Use riding/pushing toys to encourage eye-hand-body coordination.
- Use safe and comfortable bathroom products.
- Use adequate and comfortable lighting in the toddler's bedroom.
