"DIR
(Doing It Right) is a holistic diving system that is designed
to maximize diving fun while minimizing effort and risk. The DIR
system is practiced by divers around the world in environments
ranging from shallow coral reefs to deep ocean wrecks. Minimizing
a diver's effort while promoting systems to maximize safety and
efficiency, DIR is creating a revolution in diving fun and safety."
(Fundamentals
Outline)
Nova Tech welcomes Andrew Georgitsis of GUE and Mike H. Kane to
relay DIR Fundamental diving techniques on June 28th, 29th,
and 30th. This event is open to certified
divers and costs $275.00.
* So
that each participant gets adequate attention from Andrew and
Mike the limit is 12 people. This class is full, however, there
is a wait list, so if you have any interest contact Todd
Clagett ASAP.
*If
you have received confirmation from Todd that you
are a participant you need to send a $100.00 deposit to Todd Clagett
right away. Where
do I send the deposit? Remainder of the fee will be due no
later than May 31st.
* The
lecture portion will be held at the Clagett's house (directions
will be sent to participants at a later date.) Open water demonstrations
will be conducted at Millbrook Rock Quarry, a 10 minute drive
from Todd's house. Fundamentals participants are responsible for
their own admission into the quarry. You can purchase quarry passes
at area dive shops such at Sea
Ventures or "The"
Dive Shop for $10.00 per pass (you will need two passes, one
for Saturday and one for Sunday.) Passes can also be purchased
at the quarry for $20.00 per pass.
* Participants
are responsible for their own air fills for their tanks.
* Be sure
to read the DIR
Fundamentals outline/structure (.pdf file.) It contains pre-requisites,
duration, program contents and limits, lecture outline, diving
skills, performance objectives, and equipment considerations.
Fundamentals participants will benefit from reading the DIR Fundamentals
book, which can be purchased
from GUE.
****Participants
in the Fundamentals program must
register with GUE.
* The schedule
will look something like this (subject to change as Andrew and
Mike see fit:)
