         Barra de Navidad -  Manznillo

Returning to Paradise Marina in Nuevo Vallarta after the holidays was quite a treat. Leaving Colorado and it's -10 degree (F) temps for Mexico's 90 degrees was a delight! We did some last minute provisioning and then departed for Barra de Navidad, (map) about 150 miles south.

The little village in Ipala

Pam's first attempt at kayak surfing (Chamela)!

Looks like the surfing technique needs some work.

The infamous Red Snapper! RV park in Chamela.

One of the spectacular houses in Cayeres.

Some of the condos in Cayeres Bay.

All the houses and condos in Cayeres were colorfull!

One of our anchorages in Cayeres.

On the beach in Cayeres.

We left Paradise Marina on January 7 and headed south to Ipala, a cove about 43 miles south of Puerto Vallarta. Managed to hit a rather large Manta ray on the way out. No damage to boat or ray! Anchored in Ipala and Chuck managed to fix a local panga fisherman's broken throttle. Lots of points with the locals. Moved on the next day to Chamela which is about 50 miles south of Ipala. No wind so we motored the whole way. Nice anchorage on the north side of the bay. I attempted to ride the surf into the beach with less then successful results! Our next stop was Cayeres, a lovely bay about 28 miles southeast of Chamela. There are many houses and condos in Cayeres, all painted a variety of reds, yellows, oranges, purples, etc. Very colorful. There is a Club Med in the north cove and a nice hotel, the Bel Air, in the south cove.
