Pete Ramey Clinic Success
The Pete Ramey clinic was great. There was a good showing of people attending, including
farriers, vets and horse owners who are starting to trim their own horses. We were disappointed the clinic did not sell out,
but we had a fantastic group of enthusiastic participants who were able to get that much more of Pete’s individual attention.
Everyone I spoke with (and I tried to talk with everyone there) was overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of information
they gained at the clinic.

Both days were 12 hours plus of information. Pete still complained he had to cut things short! The first day
was an intense lesson in the anatomy of the hoof and how the various parts of the hoof work together. Pete spent a lot of
time talking about the natural trim, which was mostly review for me since I’m already a practicing natural trimmer.
But for many people who are just learning to trim, this was a real eye opener. One new teaching tool Pete showed us was to
put a measurement on the depth of the sole, a method to measure proper sole depth and concavity. Although my experience had
taught me how to use proper sole depth in my trimming, Pete showed us all how to quantify it and talk about it.
Of course, there was plenty of time spent talking about diet, diet and diet. Pete shared his own investigation
of the carbohydrate/hoof correlation and talked about examples of hooves that prove the point. He covers a lot of this in
depth on his own website in the article on laminitis: www.hoofrehab.com which we urge every horse owner to read, in addition to Pete's terrific book, "Making Natural
Hoofcare Work for You."
