Phil was borrowed from Anus The Menace to hurriedly record "Pick Up Truck" for Gus''s infamous "car compilation." That is the only song that we ever recorded with three different drummers, and this version never did come out! The day the Tulips recorded with Phil (in the same 13x17 foot room where we recorded "Orbital") we shot one roll of 4x super8 film and cut a grainy rock video. Live shows with Phil were few, once at Raji's, and once on a trip to San Francisco; during which he insisted that we were the Paper Fucking Tulips in order to differentiate the band during his involvement. Phil does really drive a pick-up truck, plays Tama, and didn't smoke. He is another ex-tulip who is the proud father of two. He can be found drumming in his current band, the handsome and gimmickless Gasoline.
