JeffF (Jeff Fairbanks) who had to wake up early on Sundays because he sang at church,
played a bowling ball (looking) kit, and worked at a pawn shop. A music
major in college, when we said waltz he knew how to play the real thing.
He also knew all of our songs better than we did- before he even met us!
But Jeff wrote some cool new ones anyway. He was the author of the "Emma
Peeal Beat" and wore a digital watch. JeffF also drove a pick-up truck,
but it was a red Lincoln Continental that we rented to take on tour, sending
postcards for the lyric sheet inside the "Baker's Dozen" CD the
whole way. On that trek Jeff played his heart out, including a blast of
a bill with Pavement at the Satyricon. Jeff could pack the towncar so efficiently
that we called him "Uncle Jeff." As is the pattern in The Paper
Tulips, he gave up the good life for a girl- and got married before retiring
from drum duty.
