Thomas Divide - Sunkota Ridge - Loop Trail - Indian Creek - Deep Creek trails (Smokies) - 11/6/2008

Sunkota Ridge is one of those interior trails that sees little hiking activity--especially for its upper 4.8 mile section between Thomas Divide and Martin's Gap trails.  Originally constructed by the CCC in the 1930's, this trail offers one of the most enjoyable and easy-walking routes in the Smokies.

So what's the problem?

You'll have to hike over 15 miles to walk this interior 4.8 mile section.  And yes, like Eagle Creek, dayhiking this trail from top to bottom is easiest with cars at opposite ends which means another grand tour of the park via car.  Photos.
