Leaf Peeper Alert?  Saturday, 10/11/2008 & Saturday 11/1/2008

Highlight:  I got to watch & photograph a moma bear with her cub for several minutes.

Saturday, 10/11/08, I made a 9.2 mile hike across the ridgelines of Rich Mtn and Scott Mtn along the northern boundary line of the Smokies.   I like this hike because of its nice valley views and abundant wildlife.  It is also quite close to my home.

I repeated the hike on Saturday, 11/1/2008.

Fall colors are on display along these trails.

Highlights in the photo gallery:
  • Middle elevation fall color views
  • Northwest Smokies boundary views (Foothills Parkway)
  • Rare plants like ginseng, green violet and yellow leafcup.
  • Moma bear and her cub--close-up photos.
