A Useful Weather Forecasting TV Show

The Weather Channel (TWC on your cable TV directory) broadcasts a half hour show weekly, that discusses weather forecasting  and associated topics at an intermediate layman’s level.

Yes, I did say the Weather Channel, which gets no respect from true meteorologists and us amateur weather geeks.  But the WXGeeks show that TWC broadcasts at noon on Sunday (at least in the DC area) is very good.  (Note that It does not include Jim Cantore standing in the middle of an onshore storm.)

The host/moderator of the show is Dr. Marshall Shepherd, the Director of the University of Georgia’s Atmospheric Sciences program and the 2013 President of the American Meteorology Society.  He interviewed our CWG member Jason Samenow in the 7/27/1014 show,  He then interviewed Dr. Louis Uccellini, the Director of the US NWS on his 8/31/1014 and 9/14/1014 shows, during which Dr. Uccellini discussed NWS programs and stated that the Euro model is the best around, and the NWS is working to catch up to its accuracy.

Highly recommended if you’re a weather geek.  Also you can see past shows here.
