Corrupt US congressman Tom DeLay is making good use of all that money he illegally used for political purposes. He is airing attack ads against the prosecutor who investigated and revealed his political money laundering shenanigans. Now just think about that. Imagine a world in which every accused person could saturate the media with propaganda claiming that "The Man" was just out to get him. Of course, that would never happen because most accused don't have that kind of money.

But seriously, Tom Delay is now claiming that because the judge is a Democrat that he will not get a fair trial. This is highly ironic coming from a power broker who routinely bullied through legislation using a simple party majority. I believe that Tom DeLay will get a fair trial, but it would serve him right to fall victim to the same crass political machinations that he employed in the House of Representatives.

So: a media campaign to discredit the prosecutor and a media campaign to discredit the judge. Tom DeLay's defense strategy is becoming clear. He needs a prosecutor who will ignore his illegal activities or he needs a judge that insures his fair tril will see him acquitted. Or he needs a "fair-minded" judge who will simply throw the charges out and allow him to get back to business. You can bet any judge who did that will see some of that campaign money that got DeLay into hot water to begin with. Tom DeLay will be served. The Republican Party will be served. The only ones who will not be served are the American People. And justice, of course.
