Current Staffing Needs:
The Centrifugal Eye is looking
to fill the following part-time, volunteer staff positions for assistants, artists, reviewers, proofreaders and copy-editors,
either singly or in combination. Issues are published quarterly; each position negotiates hours/projects committed, so please
include a description of your availability in your résumé. Writing and/or art samples welcome; please attach. (Some positions
include training possibilities; please inquire about the specific position of interest.)
Assistant
Art Editors:
1 or 2 positions available, may combine depending on availability and skills.
1.
Art Acquisitions Assistant
Assist the Art Director/Editor-in-chief with making artist acquisitions; be a liaison
with contemporary artists and illustrators; search for candidates, contact and pitch submission ideas, forward directions
from the editor. Strong artistic background preferred. Ability to communicate well a must, knowledge of image software and
email skills required. Must enjoy networking with other artists, and browsing the web. If you have and can get around in an
image editor/paint program such as Paint Shop Pro, Illustrator or Photoshop, your application moves to the top. Position calls
for 5-10 hours a month (15-30 hrs. per quarter; month prior to publishing deadline busiest).
Editorial
Assistants:
1 or 2 positions available, may combine depending on availability and skills.
1. Proofreader/Proofreader
Assistant
Communicate with in-house editor(s) via email; may include screening submissions, proofreading articles/reviews,
scanning proofs, negotiating housestyle revisions and editorial feedback. You appreciate a large variety of poetic styles
and your few biases match with TCE's editorial visions. Must have sharp writing, grammar and punctuation skills. Access to
both Word and Wordperfect programs a plus, but not required. Position calls for 5-10 hours a month (15-30 hrs. per quarter;
month prior to publishing deadline busiest).
