Current Staffing Needs:

The Centrifugal Eye is looking to fill the following part-time, volunteer staff positions for assistants, artists, reviewers, proofreaders and copy-editors, either singly or in combination. Issues are now published triannually; each position negotiates hours/projects committed, so please include a description of your availability in your résumé. Writing and/or art samples welcome; please attach. (Some positions include training possibilities; please inquire about the specific position of interest.)



Assistant Editors:

1 or 2 positions available, may combine depending on availability and skills.
 
1. Editorial Assistant & House Manual

Assist Editor-in-chief & staff with editorial feedback and/or proofread/fact-check final documents.  Poetic literary background preferable for feedback duties.  Be in charge of assembling style notes.  Ability to communicate well a must, and should have access to MS Word or Wordperfect. Position calls for an avg. 10 hours a month (30-40 hrs. per trimester), which may be greater at period's end.

2. Archives Editor / Editorial Assistant

Assist Art Director/Editor-in-chief with reformatting old html records and document files into print-ready and virtual platform documents. Artistic background helpful.  Ability to communicate well a must, and should have access to MS Word.  Familiarity with image software a plus.  Position calls for 10 hours a month (30-40 hrs. per trimester).  Other projects available after archive transfers are completed. 

 
 
Assistant Art Editors:

1 or 2 positions available, may combine depending on availability and skills.

1.  In-House Illustrator & Art Assistant

 

Strong illustration skills needed, and must have a love for developing visual concepts for thematic issues.  Assist the Art Director/Editor-in-chief with realizing overall visions for an issue, with concentration and emphasis during production periods;  Must be able to work quickly with digital files and be available to synch your schedule with that of TCE’s director.  Requires access to a Paint program, such as Paint Shop Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Corel Paint or Microsoft Paint.  Position calls for 10 hours a month (30-40 hrs. per trimester; month prior to publishing deadline busiest).
