The Dragonfire story started in June 2001 with original members Vincenzo Badami (rhythm drums), Tim "Rotten Tomatoes" (lead guitar), Justin (backup vocals, guitar), Ace Facial (bass guitar), and band leader Norman "Sticks" Tilles (lead drums, lead vocals). The group set out to bring back the kind of music that had inspired them in their youth. Groups like Jackyl, Kiss, Pretty Boy Floyd, and early Trixter were no longer around, and Dragonfire was ready to fill the void.

The original lineup was only to play only one show before internal problems would change Dragonfire forever. Norman and co-founding member Justin fell into disagreement and found that they could no longer work together. Teetering on the edge of breakup, Dragonfire was rescued by second and third generation bootleg copies of the now infamous first performance. Unbeknownst to the group, a small and loyal following was developing around this recording. Norman became a local celebrity and began to have trouble even leaving his apartment without getting recognized and mobbed by these underground fanatics enamored with Dragonfire. Given this new breath of life, Norman called Ace, and together they began the search to find a replacement for Justin. That replacement came in the form of Madanna.

Armed with one of the best backup singer/dancers in California, Norman and Ace, reunited with Vincenzo and Tim Rotten Tomatoes. Together they began rehearsing and recording the songs which would comprise their first album. In an attempt to create a unique identity for the scene they were a part of, the fans began to call this rock revival by another term: Gock-n-Roll. While no one is sure who coined the term, it stuck with both the fans and the group. Other "gock" groups started to emerge around the area influenced heavily by Dragonfire. The band is now in the process of finishing their debut album recorded at the same studio where some of Dragonfire's most cherished groups also recorded their finest works. On December 13, 2002, Dragonfire released their first single, Gock 'n Roll on MP3.com, where it is skyrocketing up the charts.
