Finally got it done. After 3 years of contemplation, putting most all extra curricular activities aside, grey haired hurricane seasons and a bunch of sandpaper.

Glad that Steve got to go on it's maiden fishing voyage and got to drive it some and managed to snap these photos while I was off netting bait. We had a decent day of fishing for going on such short notice. He was in the 24 hr store at like 2 am calling me telling what line and hooks/line they had since I hadn't respooled in over 3 years. I think we went on this trip with about 2 hrs sleep. I got word on big mangrove snapper and as soon as I get the bottom painted and other minor details ironed out,we can expand the trip next time.

Everything worked out quite well. Waiting on the bottom paint to arrive. This is a trailered boat and will not need antifouling. I instead intend to put a water barrier coat 2 part epoxy and cover it with a hard epoxy coat. I won't be having to modify the bottom any so this is the last of any coatings needing to be applied.Still need to install drain tubes, bilge pump and cleats and tachometer.

I remember thinking to myself that the performance of this boat would be ok no matter what, as long as it floats and all of the justifications I might have to come up with if it was less than satisfactory. "It's perfect and sure beats paddling,It's pretty even going slow,it's a fishing boat and speed is for people in a hurry...". Not that I would have blamed the design or poor plans or any excuse but more like if I had overlooked some important design detail in the plans.Truth be told, this is the nicest 18ft boat I have ever been in considering things such as,how light it is,low fuel consumption, speed(it boogies),how shallow it will go,holeshot without sacrificing top end speed, how well it push poles, behavior at anchor and I could go on. I had to totally detach myself from having built it to see if I wasn't imagining these things of biased association.I put it thru the tests and I can't make it fail.My buddy drove it and he was grinning like an opossum eating sandspurs. So it can't just be me.
