Here is my painting of the interior completed with hatch hardware and mahogany fishing rod stow holsters installed. I am pleased with the way this turned out.

I love this view of the Simmons

I still dont have pictures of the underside of the hatches and their fastening mechanisms. The 3 center hatches have stainless carriage bolts that pop up to lift the hatch and are subdued by a bungee under the deck to stainless steel hooks under the hatches. The fore and aft hatches utilize 316 stainless steel springs made from 1/16th" welding rod and are attached to a draw string that is pulled tight and looped over a button under the center hatches. These hold the hatches in their openings very well . You unhook the draw string from it's button which enables the hatch to be lifted enough so that you can unhook the springs from the hatches allowing them to be totally removeable. I will get detailed picturwes of this soon. All that's missing is the duct tape.  :)

The rod stow holsters under the sheer decks are situated so that the rod butts are at each end of the boat, enabling the fisherman at each end to keep his own rods handy for removal in the event of a surprise.fleeting school of Tarpon or other fish that may need heavier line than the 12lb. that we usually fish with or rods rigged with different bait/lure setups. The rod tips cross at the center and all one has to do is flip up the little door at the center to remove their rod. With such limited space,it pays to utilize otherwise unused  areas like this that still are convenient yet out of the way. Plus I like the little bright finished accents to this neutral colored interior.

My buddy Steve.

The phantom photographer and fishing buddy.

I remember when I first met Steve on a chat forum and we got to finding how much we are both addicted to fishing. We hit it off from the start. I was driving my vintage Bronco and he got in and said,"donnn't worry boatmonnn,it is fashionable for rednecks to have Jamaican friends".  I still crack up when I think of that. That was over 10 years ago. :)  He has been so patient and supportive of this project and he well knows how many fish we will catch from it.
