Good books can take us to wonderful places.

Some of these books have even won big awards, but that's not why they're listed here. They're here just because I like them. They touched my heart, my soul, or my funny bone.

Maybe you will like them, too. I plan to add to this list as I remember and discover more special books.

7th, up Story of a teen during the dust bowl. The fine writing makes this book especially wonderful.
Fresh Girl

7th, up Coming to America and trying to fit in, this girl sometimes seems "fresh" to her family. She also must deal with painful secret memories.
My Grandma's House
by Erick Tiddle
all ages This book is especially dear to my heart. A ten-year-old boy describes his grandmother's home and the fun he has there.
The Giving Tree
by Shel Silverstein
all ages A picture of life. Touching, insightful, and just a little sad.
