Here's the odd bit: playing left handed means that the pegs have to be reversed. Otherwise, the G string peg will intefere with the hand. The scroll box already has the holes drilled and (poorly) tapered, so I have to make inserts to fill them up, and then re-drill and ream in the taper from the other side. After much deliberation, and in the last minutes, I decided to make the tapers from homemade, cross grained maple dowels. Regular maple dowels may not work well because the wood cells can be crushed more easily in the radial direction.
