The Residence: consists
of a 1914 Craftsman duplex, which had suffered years of neglect and shoddy
workmanship under absentee landlords.
It has been fully restored and reflects the style of the era in which it
was built. The front of the house
is full of roses, fruit trees and herbs.
Fifteen rose varieties line the pathways to each of the homes. All rose
varieties were selectively bred before 1914, consistent with the age of the
house. The residence includes the homes of activists, artisans,
craftspeople and workers, including Emma Rosenthal and Andy Griggs. The Museum House, in the lower unit
includes period design, furnishings, innovative solutions to dis-ability access
and reflects months of craftsmanship, research, and the extensive use of
Craigslist. The lower unit
also provides wheelchair accessible and dis-ability affirmative overnight
accommodations for out of town activists, speakers, students and other
wandering souls.
Overnight Accommodation: DragonflyHill
Urban Farm offers
occasional overnight accommodations, by referral to visiting activist, speakers and fellow
travelers. Accommodations are
wheelchair accessible and dis-ability affirmative. We provide bed and breakfast, conversation, information
about getting around Los Angeles, the history of the local area. Located in the heart of the Rampart,
this is an ideal location for activists and speakers to see at close hand, the
conditions many people live under in occupied Amerika.
We request a donation to cover costs and support our
efforts, and insist that guests adhere to the rules for the use of the
space.
