(Mt 1:21) |
| 1 DE PROFUNDIS clamavi, ad te Domine; * 2 Domine, exaudi vocem meam. | 1 OUT OF THE DEPTHS I cry to Thee, O Lord; * 2 O Lord, hear my voice! |
| Fiant aures tuae intendentes * in vocem deprecationis meae. | Let Thy ears be attentive * to the voice of my supplication: |
| 3 Si iniquitates observaveris, Domine, * Domine, quis sustinebit? | 3 If Thou, O Lord, mark ones iniquities, * O Lord, who can stand? |
| 4 Quia apud te propitiatio est; * ut timeamus te. | 4 But with Thee is forgiveness, * that we may revere Thee. |
| 5 Sustinui te, Domine, * sustinuit anima mea in verbo eius; | 5 I have trusted in the Lord; * my soul trusted in His word. |
| 6 speravit anima mea in Domino. * magis quam custodes auroram. | 6 My soul waits for the Lord, * more than sentinels wait for the dawn. |
| Magis quam custodes auroram * 7 speret Israel in Domino; | More than sentinels wait for the dawn, * 7 let Israel wait for the Lord; |
| quia apud Dominum misericordia, * et copiosa apud eum redemptio. | For with the Lord is mercy * and plenteous with Him is redemption; |
| 8 Et ipse redimet Israel * ex omnibus iniquitatibus eius. | 8 And He will redeem Israel * from all their iniquities. |
