Our trip began on the Saturday Before Christmas. Speedbump (Secret Society Scooter Club) and I arrived under clouds and wind. Our first night we camped at Stovepipe Wells near the center of the park. The only life we saw were a pack of coyote and a flock of Ravens with skulls the size of a Chihuahua. Being that these were the only birds and there was hardly any brush I was amazed that they even existed here!!
This is the lowest spot in North America. The water is probably 100
times saltier than the ocean and host microscopic life forms.
As crazy as it may seem, somebody got this truck up on this rocky hill at the Ubehebe Lead Mines!! I guess you have to be crazy to live in Death Valley!! Too Bad they didn't fix this Model T before it became part of a National Park....
Twenty miles north of where the paved road ended, we came to the Crankshaft Crossing junction. As you can see by the few engine blocks lying on the ground, Crankshaft Crossing should only be crossed be experience 4X drivers.
Death Valley's saline valley is most impressionable in winter! This is view from the warm tub.
