Andrew Leicester


Biographical Information:

Andrew Leicester was born in Birmingham, Britain in 1948 and immigrated to the United States in 1970. As of 1991, he was residing in Minneapolis. He has won many honors, awards, and scholarships. One of his best known works is the public art entrance to Cincinnati's Bicentennial Commons, which received Urban Waterfront's Top Honor Award for 1989. His artwork tends to be very symbolic with a great deal of meaning behind it. Some issues which have been expressed in his work include human history, history of cities, myths and legends, their good and evil, and their beauty and ugliness. Most of his projects are located in urban or university environments.
